She seems to be saying,'Lord, please don't let him hit a bump!!!'

This photo makes me laugh! I think she's suppose to hold the bike up when it stops!
Colorful, comical, and serious! I love the colors... I love the comical look on the woman's face against the seriousness of the young man driving the motor bike... any moment she could slide off the back, and the possibility is there that he would keep going, not even noticing the lighter load! Hope there isn't too much traffic directly behind them, and also that they are not going too fast! This picture makes me laugh! Great photo!
They should be wearing helmets. Riding motor bikes without a helmet is unsafe.
I am sitting here----trying to figure out how they got on the motorbike, loaded the supplies, able to stay up-right, and drive----all at the same time! The colors are great and the expression on 'Momma' is priceless----dare I say, if they take a spill, we will have a wailing woman.
I think the lack of a helmet is only one of many concerns for these two! Ever been to the grocery store and forgot you were on the bike, not in the car?
They should sew some brake pads onto the soles of their shoes. I love the way you can see their toes so clearly.
This scene is very often seen in Asia, especially in VietNam, Thailand, HongKong...I feel sad for those who have tough lives like the two in the picture.
Ed, helmets? No way. They should be wearing BIKINIS! Preferably thongs. That would really add some zip to the photo.
Years from now they'll look back fondly and say these were their salad days. All they need now is to collide with a truck carrying roquefort dressing and they're set.
I can just imagine how uncomfortable that is for the woman. There is not even enough seat.
I like the colors, although the photo is slightly out of focus.
1: holding on for dear life or 2:sleeping? 0_o
Thanks are given they do not have my Vespa.
Sorry, but the first thing I thought of was what this guy's tee shirt might say, "If you're reading this I'm getting celantra tonight."
Talk about taking the "old bag" for a ride. LOL
THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING PHOTO. CAMBODIANS ARE A VERY DETERMINED PEOPLE. I HOPE THEY WERE ABLE TO GET TO THEIR DESTINATION SAFELY...AN ACCIDENT COULD LEAVE THEM BOTH IN A "VEGETATIVE" STATE. LOL
Normally, they would bring the kids with them. However, for whatever reason, they left the kids at home this time.
I know the picture does seem humorous but that's how many in Cambodia travel. I visited Cambodia earlier this year and seen families on something like this..up to four and five people..baby included. Hope the living conditions improve for the people in Cambodia. Now is a perfect time for us from the west to thankful that we live in a society has provided us with so much.
The case FOR having SUV?
It's very humorous to most westerners but to them, it's stricly business, it's how they earn a living. I've seen six or seven people stacked up on a small motorcycle in the Philippines, it seems normal to them. Cheers!
Shelli - I was thinking the same thing. How is she staying on and what....well...ouch. Margaret - Ew Phil - LOL
You would"ve thought a high fiber diet would put a big smile on their faces.
What grabs me is why can these scooters carry such a load, and are so sufficient everywhere else in the world, but can't get 500 miles before breaking down and then just having to be thrown away. No one has access to mechanics or parts in this great USA.
its amazing what you can do if you have to ,all the power to them, some of us take everything for granted.
Bless thier hearts! Neither can see where they are going...nor if they will arrive together! Here's hoping they have a very profitable day at the market, so the ride home will be more comfortable...well, unless they are trading for a new dairy cow.
"Do you pray, Mommy?" "Yes my son. Every morning, on the way to the market."
WOW,THAT'S ALOT OF WEED!,,,,,,,,:O
All my friends, have a low rider...
Hi all! Bye
Ed...Their kids are Probably excited and eagerly anticipating their return-It"s Collard Greens night!!
Look like he may have squashed his grapes. Ouch!
Slightly out of focus----I saw that as motion----then it made me think----what if......I ran beside and snapped the picture (besides the obvious of me falling and having an asthma attack)----or if I panned the bike and got a nice green/blue/red blur---or if I used a slow shutter speed----or if I took the shot from the front---or if it was a low-rider----just where would those flip-flops be dragging----the possibilities are endless-----I like the motor trikes---I know---just call me a wimp.
There are days when I complain because I don't have the things most people have. I am so ashamed when I see how other people suffer and do whatever it takes just to survive and take my blessings for granted. I do not see any humor in this picture.
What a bike to carry all that load?
It looks to me like the lady is taking a snooze.....and I'm wandering how in the world one can keep their thongs on ....and for how long before having to stop and back up and pick it up...and what a mess IF you do have to get off for a moment. YIKES!
She's taking a nap while riding!
Funny picture but there is a hidden sadness!
my hotmail address site.
What a great photo and to think most of us would need a suv to help carry this much.
Hi. yes for many this is laughing stock but how hard there living is that they have to transport the vegetables in such manner. mostly said its funny picture but seldome have thought that how much hardship that lady would be bearing. Mostly such things funny for others but ask the person bearing this all. and it happen to most of us but still we laugh on others stupidly. Asad, Lahore Pakistan
It's really funny but risky...Well she doesn't seam to be sitting on her seat :)
wow i am impressed by the comments and not the picture!!! amazing the comments are very silly and superficial reflecting only the stupidity and zero humanity. please always remember that jesus and prophet mohamad were poor. shame on you.
How a pity of my country? Because of poverty... :( Why some body laugh??? Is it a funny story? No, it is not a funny story. No choice...
That's what I felt like after Thanksgiving Dinner. LOL!!!! Now I will go back and read the comments. :)
"Let's run to the store, we can take the bike, I just need to get a couple things..."
Now that I have read the comments, I must say some of you need to "chill". It's just a photo! Not a political statement! Earl - your probably right :)
They're gonna need a bigger bike.
Asad --- Please don't take offense at the comments. Most of us try to see some humor in all of life's circumstances. This Cambodian couple seem to be adequately dressed, fed, and have a good crop to sell. I think we all wish them well. I visited Lahore and much of the rest of Pakistan in l983. I love your country, and wish you the best in the current political situation.
Asad and tonidubai. Welcome to America. In this country we show our compassion by laughing at people's misfortunes and by making fun of them. If you want to show your sympathy at a funeral, for example, just burst out laughing. Everyone will understand.
I would first like to say that I missed you all. *sniff* It looks like she literally "ran into" the back of that bike. Either that or she's suction cupped to those bags. There's no way she's sitting on something...
I need me a motorbike like that! LOL
Is it sad if it's something they're used to doing? At least they have motorized conveyance....what about the guys who have to ride on bicycles or the women who carry the shoulder basket-carry things (what are those called?) to take their veggies to market...
I wonder if people truely understand that there are those in this world who must do what they need to do in order to survive. Hang in There!
Poppa: ok momma, keep an eye out for the cops. Momma: woooweee, these poppies are getting to me Dorothy, did we lose Toto?
Are these folks available to help me pack for my next trip?Amazing...and to think they probably do this weekly? She is thinking to herself...I think he can I think he can I ....
it's not funny, it's not a political statement. It's just life.
The woman is like Spiderwoman on the back of the bike, and she is not holding or sitting on anything. On any slice bump the driver on even notice if she fell.
I was having a bad day, and this photo made me laugh hard. Maybe my life is not that hectic compared to others. I was thinking today, "I do not have any room in my Toyota Scion XB, why did I buy this car?"
To Asid, tonidubai, and theany I must admit this photo makes me smile. If there is one thing I have learned in life---it is that humor does not transfer from country to country. It does not even transfer from state to state, North to South, or Party to Party. I think most of the people here were amazed at the accomplishments of the couple. We have so many laws regulating how we ride our bikes in America that it was amazing to see the freedom of this couple. I think we were making fun of ourselves and not of this couple. Tony---are you from the city of Dubai, UAE. We just had a lovely picture on this site of the building in Dubai. I also read of the bridge collapse which was a terrible tragedy.
asid-Tonidubai..Lighten Up!!Have some Fun! Don"t tell me they don"t have Whoopee Cushions, Garlic Gum, or cigarette loads in pakistan?
Earl -LOL thanks for the laugh
She probably has done this all of her life - she looks so comfortable that it really looks like she fell asleep.
What the hell do they need helmets for...the damn thing has it's bags deployed already.
I figured out who lost all that marijuana... lol
No officer, it's not mine. I borrowed my friends bike so he must have put it there.
For the couple who can't stand to touch each other anymore, or even talk to each other. LOL Or.......What happens when blind people drive bikes into old ladies throwing away their garbage
How on earth is she holding on? It looks like she could fall off at any second. Hope he doesn't hit a rock. Although it's probably a pretty soft and padded ride.. She looks rather relaxed.
Ben - Too funny. :) :) I have a question...why would a blind person ride a bike? It's like....why do they have braille on drive up ATM's? LMBO!
"Honey, I think I locked the house keys inside the seat compartment." GOT GREENS? His face says, "I think we forgot the milk."
See what happens when you shop Black Fridays! He knows he married a shop-a-holic. Thank goodness she is a vegetarian, or they would have had to carry the whole cow!
You won't see these folks riding a bumpy bike in a couple days after eating all those greens. They'll be able to poop through a screen door!
What is she sitting on??? that is the question...and why do they need so much of what it looks like lettuce...interesting picture...
I think next time they should ask for double bags.
Now you Know why dogs are dying and People here are getting sick. I think they are going to put it in a pretty bag and sell them to wal-Mart or Target
Sad, I work on a Mental Health unit and I have admitted people with as many bags.... it is all they own in the world... wondering where their next "home" will be>.
I think they could've been more resourceful, there's lots of room on the handle bars.
If that blue bag let's loose. She is going to be crying the blues for sure.
I want the brand name of that rear tire!
I wonder how fast they are going?
This is such a good example of universal/global mentality. It does not matter where you are in the world, when you catch a ride, you make good use out of it! I love it. Growing up in Croatia, my people do simmilar kind of thing. My frined from Mexico said the same thing. It just shows me how as a humans we are all connected and have simmilar mentality.
Holy Crap we hit the MOTHERLOAD!!!!!
Whoa.. wait...we just passed the container store....No....
holy poop! I don't eat that much veggies in a year. I bet they have no trouble going "2" if you know what I mean. he he he
as i see most of you who born in rich country as USA can't even comprehend that for this two its a daily life that they are thank full for, they don't complain they know if they make it back, there's gonna be one happy family waiting for them at home. but, sure if you never touch the reality of THAT life you can laugh,... from this side if the fence...you just see this from a computer screen...
on the back of the dude's shirt: "if you can read this, the bitch and plants fell off."
mattNE, You sleigh me!!
they are probably having a MAJOR chronic hit once they get home. ahah!
Amy and Patsy: funny funny! It seems the woman was lookin' the photographer and thinking "damn, another jackass takin' my pic, wait till I get home and get all that stuff on the stove and boil me some nice hot water and take a long bath and melt the stress away...and maybe beat my little boy senseless for making me go through living hell."
The lady on the back already looks like shes sniffing some good stuff and wouldnt feel a thing if she got thrown off the bike!!
Man...my motherinlaw can sleep anywhere! Knowint her you probably can't hear the motor over the snoring.
Oh dear, all I can think of is that if she does end up getting bumped off the back of the bike, at least she'll have a soft landing! Maybe they put an extension on the back of the bike. If not, what can possibly be underneath the passenger? That has to be one BIG lettuce leaf!
drug sellers no doubt
Organic airbags.
holy God, how do they do this?? And they prob are going really fast too.
Roughage is so important in the diet.
" I don't need no stinken air bags!"
Can anyone say drug bust lol.
Where is the brake lite?
At first I thought whats in the picture was a guy riding his motorcycle with loads of vegetables on his ride. And then I noticed the old woman's clothes and the old woman. this is what you call loads of veggies!
