Figures this would happen in the ever so liberal city of San Fransisco. Probably one of the more blasphemous things I've ever seen. But then again, it doesn't really suprise me.
advertisement
Jesus: Hey, I'm a little late. Could you tell me where the crucifixtion is being held at? Bunny: Dude, I'm just trying to figure out how I'm supposed to lay colored eggs.
Who's on top of the food chain now?
Jesus looks a little intimidated by the bunny.
Isn't it time America got a white Al Sharpton so MSNBC and CBS can allow the white people the same opportunity they give hipocrits like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I can't call him a reverend since he's a detriment to his country.
An absolute disgrace and disregard for the Christ who shed his blood to forgive the very people who mock him.
you all are sitting back laughing now but there will come a time when you will know this is not funny at all. may be a lot sooner than you think.figures it would be san franisco though were else.
Jesus: "I offer people eternal life" Bunny: "I offer people colored eggs and candy" Jesus: "I offer salvation to humanity" Bunny: "I offer an excuse for a long weekend holiday to the labor force and spring break to students" Jesus: "Easter is a Christian holiday" Bunny: "Easter is a Pagan holiday that celebrates the coming of spring and fertility" Jesus: "People go to Sunday service" Bunny: "People go to Cancun, Mexico" Jesus: "I turn water into wine" Bunny: "I drink the wine, beer, and spirits, [BURP]" The debate continues...
give me a break the radio and networks fre\ied don imus i am going to stop watching msnbc and cbs and go to abc. also im going to quit buying the sponsors products. don imus deserved a lot better than this. what about all the rapper and jessie jackson and al sharpton bev good
disgraceful crap - jesus competion !!jesus loves everyone even the rabbit !!
H.G.P Pa. Worse move msnbc andcbs could have made, firing Imus. There is no one that can take his place in the a.m. Sharpton and Jackson just want t.v. time. Don't like either one of them. At least imus didn't kiss butt and msnbc employees wanted him fired because he'd tell them what he thought. Maybe Sirrus radio will snatch him up. I won't watch the 6:00-9:00 a.m spot anymore without imus.
People! It's okay! We are made in His image so, God DOES have a sense of humor.
Hey all you "Religious" nuts out there, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!! You have no right to condemn those of us that try to find humor in depressing historical events. Big deal of there is a Hunky Jesus contest, if you were really religious, you would know that God only wants us to be happy. And I do not see how this is making fun of Christ. He is probably rolling all over his cloud laughing because it is so silly.
yeah bro! i'm just wondrin what would Jesus do and tell you when you're infront of Him? if ever you could really be there? no hurt feelings bro! but God is not human to be poke on and made fun of. hope you STRAIGHTEN your theology right? Just a piece of advice; "READ THE BIBLE" before it's too late!
Im not going to shut up. This is my God and this is completely distastful.
Do not care for Imus or any of the media folks who judge everyone so harshly. However, I would like to see the music library of all the players at Rutgers and see if they are being damaged by 'rap' music.
I would suggest a basketball game to be help at Madison Square Garden between the Rutgers Womens Basketball Team vs the WFAN Allstars (New York City Radio Station) All proceeds would go to the NAACP and the Black Womens College Fund. Reverend Al Sharpton should learn to forgive at it so nicely stated in the Holy Book by the Master: Forgive 70 x 7
this is not about imus it is about how much some blacks leaders can jerk the chain of the whites and how much we will kiss there butt
30 years ago, no one was questioned about the freedom of speech, but now everyone is limited to what they can or cannot say. Jesus has been recrucified over and over by unbelievers, but when they shut their eyes to sleep forever, the ones that have talked ugly about Jesus, will receive their just reward (and I guarantee it will not be a fun party like they think)
What will be the date for the WFAN AllStars vs Rutgers Womens Basketball Team at Madison Square Garden. I want some tickets, I think they can sell out Madison Square Garden, all money going to the Black Womens College Fund and to NAACP. Broadcast this game Nationally on ESPN, commentators, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Bryant Gumbel
Hey KennethGooseCreekSC - actually that would be Jesus...God would be Jesus' father...at least according to the religious people around here. And can you HONESTLY say you have NEVER made disparaging remarks or jokes of ANY kind about anyone else's religion/beliefs?
Jesus Forgives. I think it's about time the "bible-reading" condemers did too. It's not your place to judge. Be at peace with yourself and with your belief, and cast no stones. Jesus did not condemn the romans for not believing. What did he do? He asked God to forgive them.
I wonder if Jesus saw his shadow this year...
Father, forgive them for they know not what they do...But, someday, you will...with regrets...
Imus remarks were offensive because they were ignorant, insignificant, and inappropriate. Where did the importance lye in his degrading comment. In which, he would have never said in their presence. His personal opinion should been stated in his house hold, not on national radio broadcast. This wasn’t an expressive piece of art. This was him running his mouth with no regard for humanity. Great Job Imus. I guess this is what it takes to have a great Radio Show. An as for the Easter Bunny, Jesus and Him have nothing in common. For the Easter Bunny was created by man and Jesus died for the sins of Man. Maybe Jesus was trying to witness to Easter Bunny and tell him the he definitely not the reason for the season.
For those of you that find the Jesus competition funny, think of the competition you're in! Right now the Devil is winning! And for those of you in favor of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, they stand along side the DEVIL!!! The two of them have NEVER use the word of GOD as it is Meant to be, ONLY TO LINE THEIR POCKETS!!! Signed "Pissed at where this country is going"
Could you make him look whiter...he's not white enough
It is only blasphemous if the people are christians otherwise it is somebody portraying an Idol of mankind. And it is kind of funny.
This is sad. Not funny. Is there no shame? Can’t respect at least be given in surrounding death of the CHRIST?
Okay, point one: this is a picture of a couple of real people, chill. Point two: Not all of us are christian. There are Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, etc. Lets be tolorant, people. Point three: the guy in the photo is having a good time, looks like they had a good discussion before parting ways. Point four: see point one.
This is exactly what is wrong with society today. No one has a sense of humor when things hit too close to home.Having a very healthy sense of humor, I love this photo.
Imagine the fatwas if this were mohammed and a bunny!...
TraciFlorida Jesus is God....God is Jesus....read The Book....
Wow...
It's laughable that all the god fearing religious types take a "wait, you'll see" attitude. Like we're going to be cast down into eternal damnation and you're going to be there grinning when it happens. It's sickening. You pass judgement way to fast!!! And isn't there some commandment about that??? Hitting yourself in the head with your bible would do you more good than reading it because you just get the wrong message of what it's all about anyway.
Bunny: This is my Holiday now get out of here before I have my hordes of little kids pelt you with eggs. Oh and i see that it is about time you pulled yourself down off the cross, now why don't you build yourself a bridge and get over it. Jesus: Uhhh.....?
Rolled into Nazareth feeling 'bout half past dead. Just want a place a place to lay my head. I said, "Hey, bunny..."
Two of the most famous fictional characters in America in one spot, what a nice concept.
Silly rabbit...cruciFIX are for kids!
Obviously, no animals were hurt in this display of human silliness. So, who does this hurt? I say hurray for silliness in all its forms. Go bunny. Go Jesus.
HUGE Rabbit! Notice that "Hunky Jesus" approaches the grotesque rabbit with a fearless smile!
O.K. 1. How did this turn into an Imus debate this is about the PHOTO ABOVE and I don't see Imus in that picture!! 2. AMcEvoyLosAngelesCA If God is Jesus, and Jesus is God, who is Jesus talking to when He prays? 3. Get a grip it's funny I believe God has a sense of humor I mean look at parts of the human body and not laugh, or look at a platypus. 4. "Love thy neighbor as you would thy self" leviticus 19:18 (Some of you must not love your self very much.) "But love covers all offenses" Proverbs 10:12 "I say love your enemies" Matthew 5:44 Jesus said "Love each other as I have loved you" John 13:34 5. God is not intimidated by a bunny or an idea why should you be? And 6. Before you get on me, yes I believe in God The Almighty His son Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit. But not The Church Almighty His son Religion and The Holy Dollar and so according to the "Christian Right" My view is invalid.
Wow I am amazed at how people are getting so upset about this picture. This is a totally innocent picture and to me represents that everyone can get along...even jesus and the Easter Bunny. Pretty soon you will be as fanatical as the people you claim are your enemies. Think about that very carefully.
This pic is terrific, I am now interested in starting a hunky Jesus contest in my town just so you religious fanatics can write terrible things about us too. By the way, all the guy did was dress up like Jesus...so lets just make sure that all of you that passed judgement on him remember to go outside on Halloween and pass judgement on those dressed like nuns, priests and monks too. Lets take it one step further and pass judgement on people dressed like the devil because no one, no where is allowed to have any bit of fun with the bible, are they? Give me a break. All of you that wrote about how terrible this picture is, take a mirror and look at your own lives---hypocrites
You know it could have been a diffrent story is someone had a ladder and a pair of pliers. I can picture Jesus now up there now ... everyone standing around looking up at him ... He's up there shouting HEY ANYONE GOT A LADDER AND PAIR OF PLIERS.
Christianity meet the Astoret pagan bunny. Paganism meet the Chritianity's hunky Jesus. Unbeleivable!!
if you look a bit closer thats actually Don imus carrying that cross.all he needs is a cowboy hat.jeff zucker is the one in the bunny suit and is ready to club him !!! joe the nappy headed ho
Meg said under her point two that we should be "tolerant." That word has been completely twisted and used in ways it shouldn't over the past century. The postmodern movement says that not only should you be understanding that other people believe something different, but that you should accept that as completely fine. It shouldn't be fine to a true believer of any religion. No religion is TRULY tolerant in today's sense of the word - each has something that limits the actions of each member. For example, a Muslim cannot be tolerant of a Christian. Sadly, religion is not something that can combine harmoniously with other parts of itself. It's a clear, black-and-white belief. Toleration cannot intertwine these different beliefs.
As a beliver and member of a Evangelical Christian Church, I am thankful that we live in a country that allows freedom of speach and worship, and yes this kind of expression, go USA! As to the picture, the Bible, in the Gospels tell of his birth, life, death and resurection. I encourage each of you to read for YOURSELF these directions for life, and what I belive comes after this life, and decide for YOURSELF. Jesus does NOT need me to defend him, just spread the good news of His love!!!!
As a Christian, I look at this blog and wonder WWJD? I think he would see this picture and giggle a bit, thinking "he got the beard length a bit wrong, but the rest looks pretty good!" Lighten up people! If you believe in Christ, surely you believe that he is perfect, including having a perfect sense of humor. If you don't believe in Christ, the picture is still kinda funny.
To SouthernLady: No offense. I have read your comments on the photoblog and I agree with the majority of them. In this case, I'm going to have to disagree. This picture (and the event depicted) is a complete and utter mockery of the most sacred and selfless act which has ever taken place in the history of the world. Our Lord and Savior suffered for both you and me and to make light of that I'm sure would not fall under the category of Gods "sense of humor".
Hey TRACIFLORIDA, Wow, you need to read the Bible and learn the word for yourself and not hearsay from everyone else. I guess what you said makes you feel good about yourself... And no, I have not "Joked" or Criticized another religion or culture. I may think its a bit bizarre, buts its not something to make fun or in this case a game out of. Maybe one day people will come to realize that.
i dont think its a disgrace at all....hell they are obviously religious doing a jesus contest...and don't say christians don't celebrate easter....its a great picture..and the teacher looks just like jesus..and he's even smiling..hell this is a happy picture..not one to be brought down...they were having a good time...good day...
Any one who truly understands the message of Jesus Christ does not take offense at anything. Does not judge and does not claim to KNOW what happens after death. Love & peace are the way-nothing else matters.
Hunky Jesus...that's awsome! What about a religious strong-man competition. Each religion gets their biggest meat head to try an tear the others' holy book in half...or have a Jesus vs. Muhammed celebrity boxing match...but again, we see how well Muslims deal with conflict.
WOW! TWO FAVORITE FANTASIES IN ONE! THE EASTER BUNNY AND THE NUMBER ONE PERPETUATED MYTH: A EUROPEAN LOOKING JESUS!
Jesus never really looked like that He is dressed like a picture image a greek man created years ago and Christians jumped on. all I see is a man dressed like a picture image that Christians have been taught to attach to Jesus. Actually the Bunny looks more like a bunny than the man that is pertraying Jesus. I see two images that mankind created and honestly they deserve each other.
I am a pastor of a church, and I can honestly say that a contest of this sort (hunky Jesus) is not something that I could or would condone. Although, I thank God that we live in a country where our freedoms allow this type of thing to go on. Jesus said that we are to glorify him in everything we do. This does not fit that category, so I would say it is not right. If this were the prophet Muhammed, the muslims would be killing Americans all over the world. We need to think about respecting everyone's religion, and try not to offend them by doing stupid things like this.
jesus' wife probably wouldn't mind the idea hunky jesus competition... ooh la la!
Does the bunny wanna hide one last egg, up Jesus' skirt?
I'm agnostic and say who gives a crap what anyone does on any given day. Don't like it? Boo hoo. Freedom of religion or lack thereof.
God and Jesus are not the same. Anyone who has read the Bible and actually understood it would know that.
Jesus was (and is) the Son of God. Yes, He understands humor, but He also understands respect. To me this picture is nothing more then the sad representation of what we made to the celebration of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. We got it all confused with bunnies and eggs. I sincerely doubt that Jesus is looking at this picture with smile...
"Freedom OF religion" should be changed to "freedom FROM religion."
The juxtaposition of two mythical figures. One, people don't take seriously and they have fun. The other, some people take entirely too seriously and are known to wage wars against those who do not agree with them.
I think this is a great photo. The contest most likely isn't meant to be offensive, sacreligous, whatever, the whole thing seems to be in good spirits (no pun intended) and a celebration. Relax.
San Francisco...figures.
Watch out for the MY GOD people. They don't share their GOD so I have to get my own. Can anyone tell me where o find my own so that I can say MY GOD too. een better is taht iget to own MY GOD.
FREEDOM 'From' RELEGION!! My daughter thanx you! I can see her rushing out to have her 'Freedom From Religion' tee shirt made now!! Good one!
God is my God too and I think this is funny, thank god for my sense of humor!!!!
Mark, WalMart is having a price slashing on God this week. Down to $4.37. The only problem is, he's made in Taiwan and won't last one wash cycle.
Disgraceful? Thought it was pretty funny? Oh what, we see jesus and the easter bunny in the same pictures, are we going to bomb an embassy now? BTW, you know where hiding easter eggs and giving candy to children come from? Back when the christians where spreading the good news and slaughtering pegans for not betraying their beliefs, The hiding pegans would still celebrate Ostara (time to pay honor to the goddess of fertility, etc..Estre..get it, Estre...Easter *gasp*). They would hide the eggs that they colored, so the christians would bribe kids to find the eggs in trade for candy, and the innocent children would betray their parents and then the lovely christians would come along in the name of god and Jesus to execute them for thinking for themselves and not conforming. Just thought I'd throw that in there for all you light hearted god "fearing" drones :)
As a Tribal member,I do not care for Christians, they exploited our culture and Native heritage nor do I care for a hypocrite like Jesse Jackson but I do have respect for Martin Luther King, he was for mankind in general, not one kind!
Yes, freedom of religion is allowed and I do respect some religions more than others and some religions are just plain stupid, ignorant, and disrespectful to them selves and others. I believe GOD and I know of GOD'S son Jesus and I know neither one would be smiling down at this display of disrespectful ignorants!!!
Would the comments be different if this were a Hunky Mohammed contest? I am sure they would be.
Are you having a little trouble in life with depression, confusion, relationship trouble, self-image?? Maybe you should try not cursing so much and blessing. THE BIBLE says you reap what you sow....so go ahead and curse, you are only reaping curses upon yourself. THE BIBLE is TRUTH and the BIBLE SAYS TRUTH ALWAYS PREVAILS, AND AT THE COMING AND RETURN OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW......you will see.
Will the Easter Bunny bow, also, Lisa? And Marlene, you're saying you "don't care for" 80% of this country??
Thank you for beating me to the punch, Mike ;)...3/4 if not most of the celebrations (christmas, etc) christians imbibe themselves in were stolen - sometimes violently, but most through less than nice methods -, twisted about to their liking and viola: a holy holiday. Bah. Even halos that adorn christian symbols were stolen. Christianity is not original in the slightest. Technically, if one does read the MAN-MADE bible and takes notes of dates and whatnot...jesus was not born at christmas anyway. And that's if he even existed in the first place...beyond a good advertiser. This is lightheartedness at its best...the coming together of two symbols of one holiday for the sake of having fun. Organized religions will become indignant over any little matter if it makes them appear less glorified.
Now, how is that Margret?
They are both figments of imagination! humans are capable of imagineering.
The hypocrisy of the liberal left and media never cease to amaze. To them it's ok to make jokes of christian beliefs but they'd be the first in line screaming for heads if such frivolity were pointed at any other ethnic or religious mores such as Jewish, Islamic or black slavery. This is another example of the double standard in our society.
Amen to speaker sunshine up there. Fear fuels blindness, especially viewing figures of authority. People've got to say what's in their gut, like I just did. Just so you know, the supposed message of every religion is love. But maybe you were too busy typing in all caps to notice.
Well, Marlene, I believe you wrote that you "don't care for Christians." The US is about 80% Christian, isn't it? Ergo, you don't care for 80% of this country. Or did I read you wrong?
Does anyone remember Slobodan Milosivic? He was a CHRISTIAN that was mass murdering Muslims. I work with numererous Muslims and find the Muslim bashing insulting to the masses of them that are not murderous extremists. Lets not bash on people that have nothing to do with this photo. (Which by the way is charming).
THATS ABOUT AS FUNNY AS THROWING PORK RINDS AT MUSLIMS !!! COME ON TURNABOUT IS FAIRPLAY, RIGHT?
You're Jesus right? The Tooth Fairy told me I'd find you here. She said to meet back at the Gingerbread Man's House, and, oh yeah, lose the giant T.
Two man-made mythical creatures meet! Where's the sasquatch? I'm sure Nessy is on his way.
A "hunky Jesus" competition? Really! I can't believe this! Jesus' death on the cross is very sacred!
Jesus was hot.
EasterBunny: And, who might you be? Jesus: I'm your salvation... EasterBunny: Uhh, I'm not sure if you knew, I'm the Big Hit in-town around this time of year... Jesus: Have you any sins you would like for me to bear? EasterBunny: What, did you say bear? Where? When? How tall? Jesus: My warm and furry friend, I am the truth and the light... EasterBunny: Well, ok, if you are the truth, how many eggs does it take to make a easter egg hunting contest here in sunny CA? Jesus: My sons, thru me you shall have everlasting life and the answer to your questions is "0". I am here to ask you are you ready to pay for sins? You won't be making the next easter egg hunting contest. Let us pray...Our father, who art in heaven...
Just so ya'll know, there is also a UFO in the background.
are you kidding me, this is ridiculous. why should the figure that many look to as a saviour be made fun of like this. this is a disgrace
Who looks to the Easter Bunny as a savior?
Wow...everyone talks as if Jesus was a real person. The bible is a "book" that was writen just like the book "Watch Spot run" that I read to my little girl. Oh and one last thing....in that "book" wasn't it written somewhere "thou shalt not judge"? Just my opinion. Yall have at.
CLos - Thank you!! The picture/caption are hilarious - this deserves a humerous retort despite any potential sacriledge. Remember all you religious scolders - "rejoice and be glad in the Lord" or "Shout for joy" - Good Heavens - hunky Jesus is just silly as is South Park making fun of Scientologist Tom Cruise. Thank you
Why does everything that just so happens to be in San Francisco have to be gay or offensive? This could of happened anywhere. Just because he was going to a Hunky Jesus contest doesn't mean that it couldn't of happened in New York, or Chicago, or Wichita for that matter. For goodness sakes, it's a good humored picture. Anyone who takes offense to this is thinking way to much into it. I would like to think that if Jesus were to resurrect and see an Easter bunny, being what I've always heard to him to be, BENEVOLENT, he would smile, pat the bunny on the shoulder, and be understanding of his religion. Quoting the bible and making this into some heracy is way too much. Come on people, have a sense of humor. Straight from the Bible Belt.
I am a strong liberal and don't approve of mockery like this. It is very disrespectful. We need to all learn to coexist peacefully and respectfully. It is really unecessary to do this. I do not go around dress up in women's clothes and make fun of gay people. Like wise, I don't appreciate this.
Please try this with any Islamic figure. San fran would be burned to the ground.
If your faith is in Jesus Christ then just the word "hunky" would offend you. If your faith is not in Jesus Christ then the words "Jesus Christ" and "Christian" probably offend you. As a pastor I would say to my fellow brothers and sisters in the faith...Jesus did not come to judge the world but to save it. Our faith demands that we love a fallen world and if there is any judging it should be towards those that are already in the family of faith...as perhaps I have done here with you. To the agnostic, atheist, and non-believer...I can understand your view in light of the continual judgment you receive. I can only hope that we (including me) as Christians will live more of what the Bible says and love you without judgment as our faith commands us to.
Chip Jesus would slap the crap out of you, and all the rest of you who take life way to serious. Get off the podium and reflect inward. It's a fun photo, not the end of the earth.
I thought that jesus was black, he loved gospel, called everybody brother, and didn't get a fair trial.
eww jesus
COME ON!!! It's a joke. I think that there are too many people in this country that take things WAY too seriously.
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
Why is that people seem to revere Jesus more than God? Or rather the image of Jesus? Oh well, i guess thats a tiny discretion compared to the fact that easter, and christmas are both stolen holidays. Merry Yule, or the celebration of the spring equinox anyone? Too bad im just going to be persecuted by those so ignorant they dont know, and refuse to accept, what is widely known by historians as true.
I love this picture. Anything that gets Jesus out there and into the minds of people can be a good thing. Come to think of it, Jesus must have really been a hunk or he couldn't have withstood a beating and then dragged a heavy cross almost all the way to Calvary. What a strong Savior!
Has anyone seen "Dogma"?? They put it best right in the beginning of the movie,"God has a sense of humor... Just look at the platypus." Really though, how did the Easter Bunny come about?? Maybe that's what they're trying to figure out. It's the 2 things everyong associates Easter with; Jesus, and the Bunny. It's about time they met.
Good point, Megan... what is up with San Francisco? Didn't the Christians adopt pagan ideas to attract the pagans? Is'nt Christmas celebrated about the time of the winter equinox? Aren't bunnies about new life? I thought Jesus did exist... the only debate was about that Son of God thing... that's what I was thinking... although, I am a liberal lefty, what do I know?
The malice and hatred on here from supposedly "god fearing people" is incredible. If you really believe in Christianity then you should feel sorrow for the people that don't follow the Bible, not want to kill them. Where does Jesus say to kill and maim non-believers? I sense that is what some of you would like to do.
This is very funny! Religious freaks? You guys are a disgrace to humanity.
hee hee LOL, ahum
Lunchbox is my hero
Not everyone is Christian, and yes San Francisco is a place of love and acceptance. We don’t judge each other, Remember kids the Bible says judging wrong. It’s great that most of you feel so strongly about what you believe, but really your making Christians look ridiculous to non believers, people that you are trying to save. Who wants to believe in Christianity if your going to be an A**hole. Get a clue… No ones going to believe if you keep judging! Doesn’t Christ want you to save people? Get over yourselves That’s all.
To lisa I have gone over the bible several times and cant seem to find the footnotes anywhere. That could place the bible as the greatest work of fiction ever put on print, faith and truth are two seperate things, truth tells us that evolution is fact, faith allows us to believe that a talking snake was the root cause of todays problems.
Do not come here to post about the stupid Imus firing. I have read several posts about that on these pictures blogs and they do not belong here. Nobody cares that you're boycotting MSNBC, you're not doing a very good job if you're giving them a hit everytime you come on here to rant.
laThe "Hunky Jesus Competition?!?!" I know the churches are trying new and innovative ways to get folks back in the pews, but this is way over the top!
Dumb picture - don't like it, it's ridiculous - religion aside.
two words for the bible thumpers who are freakin out over this....CALM DOWN...do u really think Jesus was such an angry man like you to where he would get his panties in a bunch over this...praise to your angry jesus then...???
Folks, As I Christian, I believe that I am to love all people, to be forgiving, and to be long-suffering. (Now - I would be the first to admit that that is not easy!) "Christianity" over the ages has been responsible for many atrocities, perpetuated by men who's hearts were evil, but used God's name as an excuse to justify their actions. This saddens me too. Personally, I have chosen to live love - the way God wants me to. I am not responsible for anyone else - only for my actions. This picture, in and of itself does not bother me. The fact tho, that someone would disrespect Jesus - someone who died for me to save me from hell - saddens me. That said, it does not give me the right to condemn, or rant. Jesus would be the first to forgive, even if he did not condone.
what do Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have to do with this picture?
Jesus, the easter bunny and Santa Claus meet at an intersection of a 3 way stop. Who goes first? None of them, they're all fictional characters!!!
This is absolutely wrong. IF people knew the TRUE meaning of Easter (resurrection of Christ) you would not be making jokes. If it was not for the love of God giving us the life and death of His Son, we would most likely not be here now and if we were, have nothing to live for, meaning, no future!!! You should be ashamed!! TSK TSK TSK.
And we wonder why our world is in such turmoil!! JESUS IS LORD....he is preparing the way, are you prepared? You better think hard....
It's funny how Christians are supposed to be tolerant of atheists when they are mocking their Savior, we should respect their right to speak out against God. I wonder what would happen if there were a "Hunky Mohammed" competition during Ramadan. Of course, no one would dare to offend THAT religion, right? Does anyone recall that comic depicting Mohammed not so long ago? Turns out believers DO have a right to demand respect and reverence for their religion. Except, of course, if that religion happens to be Christianity.
Jesus name is the only one that the liberals allow to be ridiculed and mocked. If this were Mohammad or Buddah, etc. there would be outrage. This only shows the TRUE one. Jesus, a name above all names. Satan rules this world for now. That's why he's only afraid of the one true name.
The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you. (Leviticus 11:6) Maybe next year the dude can use his $100 bucks to buy some real sandals...I doubt Jesus wore TEVA's.
I agree with the gentleman, that said,"this is the most blasphemous thing I ever saw" which is true, what does easter bunnies and the death of Christ have to do with one another. By the way Easter comes from pagan origins, it is not bibically based, do your research.
What do they have to do with each other? They illustrate the absurdity of each other. Believing in one is tantamount to believing in the other regardless of origin. It is always amazing to me the number of seemingly intelligent people who can still convince themselves that this is somehow reality. Now go ahead and ban me to hell. I'll hold my breath until I get there.
The ultimate contrast. Salvation vs Satan. Salvation right out in the open. Satan in a bunny suit.
Hey, there's gonna be a showdown! This bunny's even bigger than the last one! Tell him to stay away from North Koreans... People, lighten up. I'm sure you all thought the Muslims were overreacting when someone disrepected Muhammad. Riiiiight??
I agree with Jeffrey!! -- A SF Bay Area resident By the way, It says at the bottom of these things that comments that attack the comments of others would not be approved. ?? I think some are slipping through the cracks.
Oh stop your whining! Unless every "hunky Jesus" in this contest is a follower of Islam or Judaism... you have NOTHING to stand on. It's funny... deal with it.
I do think God has a sense of humor. For look at how many small minded people he has created in this world. Some have even graced their presence here. Everyone needs a good chuckle once in awhile, even He does.
hey there "nonjudgemental", Slobodan Milosivic, was communist, therefor he could not have been a Christian. He believed in evolution and communism, his parents were Christians.
Everyone who thinks "freedom from religion" is just so cute and clever and tshirt material: its really saying nothing, because no one is having religion FORCED on them anyway! If you want "freedom" from ever seeing or hearing or meeting anyone who has either a religious belief or a belief about religion, go hide yourself in a cave, away from all human beings from every culture! Or in the very least move out of America, (where you are able to express your opinions on tshirts and in blogs) to a country that allows no freedom of expression nor open, honest discussion. And hmmm, isn't wearing a tshirt about "freedom from religion" just forcing people like you who don't want the subject of religion brought up... to HAVE the subject brought up when we see you standing in line at Starbucks? How about not forcing YOUR opinions on us by wearing tshirts about them?
Hey Chad--what on earth are you talking about? Who said that Christians are wanting to "kill and maim" non-believers? I don't see even a HINT of that!
Anthemx...well said! The evil that people do and say it is in God's name does not mean they are following Christ. As the old Christian saying goes..."Sitting in church no more makes you a Christian than sitting in a garage makes you a car."
Lucifer...why do you assume that Christians will be grinning when people go to hell? Every TRUE follower of Christ knows that Jesus said that the most important commandment is LOVE..."Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (from the Bible, Matthew 22:37-40). True Christians are deeply saddened by the thought of ANYONE going to hell...Why else would they try to prevent it by doing what they BELIEVE to be the right and loving thing: telling people about the love of Christ? After all, isn't that what everyone who airs their opinion is doing?...defending what they BELIEVE to be right? Just because our beliefs differ doesn't mean that we hate those that don't agree with us...just the opposite, in fact. If Christians didn't care about and didn't love others, they would selfishly keep the Gospel to themselves and say "to hell with you! (literally) and: Why should I waste my time on you?". (btw...Why do Christians care about and love others...even those who hate us?...Its ONLY because we carry the love of Christ in us...We aren't some special breed of people.) You'd be amazed at the amount of TIME that Christians spend praying for others; and reading and learning about ways they can share Christ's love with others. I personally have seen many tears shed by Christians, over people they truly love and care about. I say this not to get hollow sympathy, but just to illustrate that true followers of Christ are not this bunch of "haha, you're going to fry" self-righteous, hateful people you view them to be. So, if you want to condemn Christians for their misguided attempts and faulty words, so be it. But please don't think any true Christian will be happy by the number of people in hell. Because we have the love of Christ in us (and no one could ever love people more than Christ does), it deeply weighs on our hearts. Granted, not all Christians go about sharing their beliefs the "right" way. And sometimes we let our human faults creep in and overshadow the light of Christ within us...remember, we are claiming to be FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, not perfect people. The closer a person gets to God, the more they realize just how damaging being judgmental can be. (and yes, Jesus did tell us not to judge/condemn others. See Matthew 7:1-5 and Luke 6:37) But the point is, the people who are TRULY TRYING to follow Christ try to bring others the Gospel because of love, not because we want something from them...and not out of the desire to judge or condemn. And please note my emphasis that there is a huge difference between everyone who says they are doing things in Christ's name (but really just using it as a platform for their own demented agenda) and people who are truly trying to humbly follow Christ. The most disturbing and SICKENING things I have ever seen involve people claiming to follow Christ who use it to hurt others...example: a group of so-called believers who attend funerals of homosexuals and wave signs saying "God hates fags" and "Your son is in hell". I think the people holding these signs are going to be in the deepest, darkest parts of hell. It seriously makes me sick to my stomach to think of these devils dressing up as Christians, maliciously hurting families, and trying to bring shame on the name of Christ...and EVERY Christian I have spoken with feels exactly the same way. If you want to know what Christ stands for and what He is about, talk to Him and read His Word...don't base your opinion of who He is by everyone claiming to follow Him. Don't avoid the teacher because of what the student (who never attended class) does.
Rabble, rabble, rabble. We don't want anyone to go to hell. Rabble, rabble, rabble. Except anyone different who doesn't listen to us and do what we say. Rabble, rabble, rabble. Please. This whole implication that you are pushing this nonsense because of your "love" of man is long done. You could have used one tenth as many characters in that post and made much more sense. Does this really seem like a plausible reality to you? Seriously.
"I like your christ. I dont like your christians. Your christians are so unlike your christ." Gandhi
What I think is amazing about this picture is that they were able to get every single Christian from San Francisco to come together for one big family photo! I had no idea there were that many!
RevCCDUnitedBaptistChurchPennsylvania April 16, 2007 "Jesus said that we are to glorify him in everything we do." What better glory than saying he is hot! loa April 30, 2007 "And we wonder why our world is in such turmoil!! JESUS IS LORD....he is preparing the way, are you prepared? You better think hard.... I have thought hard and im pretty sure finding humor in a hot jesus contest wont damn me to hell.
I, myself, have lived long, and I have studied the histories of times before our own. In all ages, it seems, all sorts of religions have held out promises of worldwide peace and bounty and good health and brotherly love and pervading hapiness - and some kind of Heaven herafter. About the herafter I know nothing. But of my own knowledge, most of the people on this earth, including those who pray and worship with sincerest faith and devotion, remain poor and sickly and unhappy and unfulfilled and in utter detestation of each other.
Maybe I'm a little late, but the Imus thing had nothing to do with freedom of speech. He was not put in jail or tortured, he was fired by his employer. If you made racist comments at your job and it effected your employers business, would you be fired?
Maybe people should rent the movie passion And then see if they wanna be in Jesus' sandles. Doing what your Father asked you to do and being whipped for itand made to carry a cross(like in the picture) which you know you are going to be nailed to. And then as you plead for your life to your Father being stabbed with a spear. Too bleed out in front of everyone. The part I like is where 3 days later. Being able to live eternity in peace. Easter Sunday unfourtunatly the easter bunny comes form another culture for the renewal of life (Spring)
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Sanctimony is a terrible thing. I'm a Christian and I laughed out loud at this. It's great. Sanctimonious christians take themselves too serious. These are same ones who believe its OK to kill for your country. Read the Book and lighten up!
The only thing funnier than this picture is all those of you who got bent out of shape over it and criticized the great city of San Francisco and threatened all of us with hell fire for laughing. What makes you think that those of us who don't buy your silly stories of virgin birth and rising from the dead after three days will be frightened by your threat of eternity with a little red man who has horns and a pitch fork and lives in a pit of fire?
Come on conservatives! This is humor. Most of you probably awknowledge the Easter bunny and Santa Claus on the appropriate holidays. *sigh* and those shoving Bible verses down my throat in anger, maybe you should look up EXTREMISM. Its bad in any form... just look at Fred Phelps, Hitler, and Islamic extremists.. and and my world cultures teacher. oy.
debatinfool, (or should we call you rosie o'donnel) are you SERIOUSLY equating a person defending their point of view by QUOTING Bible verses with someone KILLING millions of innocent Jews??!! i know its great to get your point across, and demonizing who you are debating is usually an effective strategy, but COME ON!!! believing passionately in something does not equal extremism! mother theresa believed passionately in helping the poor and orphaned...are you going to mention her in the same breath as hitler? it DOES matter what you are extreme about...extreme love does not equal extreme hate.
faultypersonfollowingchrist... Bravo, well said. Spoken like a true believer.
Dear EnoughOfYourExaggerations, I was referring to those who are close-minded and out of sheer anger quoting bible verses that condemn. I was raised in church and know the kind of people who are condemning fire-and-brimstone type people.. That is what I was referring to. Mother Theresa was an amazing woman to say the least and would never shout "REPENT OR BURN IN HELL" at someone... Catch my drift?
faultypersonfollowingChrist Ditto, I agree, beautifully said.
hey mister davidmemphistn if you dont like where this country is going then leave! go somewhere else where you cant speak your mind or believe what you want. to all the religious people: get over it! the fact is that you will always be disapointed if you expect people to conform to your beliefs or respect you more because you believe in what you do. but dont think that you are wrong because nobody is, noone really truely knows what is out there so dont knock others for believeing something is differend or making fun of your beliefs
A "Hunky Jesus" contest? gimme a break, already!
Oh wow. You people need to lighten up. Really. It's just a humorous picture and that's all it's meant to be. I doubt the photographer set out with the intent to offend Christians. However, I do notice that a lot of you seem to be calling San Francisco liberal. So what? Just because the city, on the whole, isn't as narrow minded as the rest of you, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. Liberal doesn't mean faithless. And please, let's not turn a comment board into a war of religions and ideas.
Whether he was God or a fraud, I still dont see why making a mockery of a man who suffered a horrible and violent death would make you "laugh out loud" A bit sadistic don't you think?
Mama says blah blah blah,,,all the bible thumpers sound just like mama on the waterboy....sad....to not even understand your own religion
If these people only knew how much God loves them.I wish they could know what Jesus really looks like now.Remember he's not on that cross anymore. He rose triumphantly from the grave and put death and hell under his feet.He is the mighty 'King of Kings"and his Kingdom will be everlasting.
"God is a comedian playing to an audience that is afraid to laugh..." Come on, lighten up people. I'm sure Jesus has a much better sense of humor than you. :)
hi debatinfool, totally see where you are coming from now...see how easy it is to misunderstand someone and jump to conclusions about what they are saying!? i totally agree that the Bible shouldn't be USED in/for anger and condemnation... that would be spreading the opposite of what the Bible is meant to spread, which is love! (guess i was just being overly sensitive, remembering when rosie o'donnel said that Christians were the same as Islamic terrorists...ASSumed thats where you were coming from). so sorry, and i appreciate your kind clarification!
Give me a break people!! It's funny!!! Two of my uncles were Roman Catholic Priets, and I wanted to be a nun at one time. I think it's funny!! Hunk Jesus contest!!I think the lord has a sense ef humor, he gave some of us one! Though I do agree with some of the other comments, that said you could never do this with an islamic figure. They too need to get a sense of humor. We all need to get a life and stop being so sensitive!!
Come on down......SUNDAY!!! SUNDAY!!! SUNDAY!!! Be there for the match of the century between J.C. and the Bunny. In this corner...all the way from Nazareth, the Sultan of the Sabbath, the Almighty of the Anointed, the Chef from Fishes and Loafs night, Jesus Christ. And in this corner...well, it's just some unemployed dude in a rented Easter Bunny outfit. Big Whoop.
People here speak of "tolerance", and that we should not take this seriously. Some condemn others on this in the name of their Christian faith. We need to keep perspective here on several things. Those of you speaking hatefully about the non-believers here - model Christ's love, as Christ Himself asked for forgiveness for His enemies even while they were crucifying Him. Those who do not know Christ will not see Him in your hateful words. At the same time, those of you who think this is funny do not understand th gravity of our situation. God is not mocked, the Bible tells us. Speak to a learned Christian, dig into what that statement means, and your whole perspective will be changed. As for an exhortation to "tolerance", that is the most bigoted statement here. If instead of Jesus, the celebration and photo depicted one of the Virginia Tech victims lightly in their dying moments, we would all label it as offensive and distasteful. If we were to depict the Muslim prophet Mohammad in a picture at all, let alone disrespectfully, it would be labeled as highly insensitive to Muslims everywhere as a sacrilege. If your mother was depicted in the act of conceiving you, you would consider it insensitive and distasteful. Do you now see the point? We need to stop thinking about ourselves only, and realize that we are not "free" in this country to do whatever we want. That is a perversion of what the founding fathers sought to guarantee, and the values for which our ancestors worked and fought and died. To denigrate what anyone else holds most dear is not mature, it is not constructive, it is not decent, it is not conducive to a stable and peaceful society, it is not educated and enlightened, and it is just plain "bad manners". My ancestors fought in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, and Korea. Friends fought in Viet Nam. My Christian friend's children are in Iraq. The benefits of "tolerance" are due my family and friends as well. My Lord and my Savior Jesus Christ died to save me from my failures, and gives me peace and hope in the midst of all this Devilish chaos. This is very important to me and central to my life, and even if you don't accept Jesus now, please be "tolerant" and accepting of my sensitivities and values along with everyone else. You cannot be "tolerant" if you do not respect Christian values along with Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Shintoist, atheist, etc. values as well. Lowering Christ's crucifixion to a sexist spectacle looking for "hunks" is inappropriate if you have any objective judgement at all.
a mockery of Gods son again...now they include the thumper rabbit again...sick..
If you can't laugh at this, you're taking life much too seriously. It's not as if they're deliberately mocking the death of Christ. Easter is a time of celebration, and this is one type. Smile and let it go. What a lovely picture. :)
I just got some more information...Christians will be thrilled: You can all calm down now; This guy's name is Jesus Jimenez, and he's a pallet maker from Juarez.
Wow.... I believe 100% in freedom of speech, as long as every one gets equal rights. I believe in standing up for what you believe, no matter what you believe, and being given a chance to speak as long as you allow others to speak. Isnt that the point of open forums on the web? To allow people to exchange ideas for a broader level of human understanding? At first view I was amused by the picture above... it makes sense that there would be a competition of this nature, its silly, Am I offened?? No, I am a born again christian, I am a follower of the Lord God, Jesus Christ. I do not judge others for their actions, it is not my place, it is the Lords and I stand on that belief fully. I will never look down or condem someone for what they choose to believe or express. When you die you will be responsible for every decision you have made, good and bad, as will I. Should all of the followers of Christ get up in arms and angry over the picture above? Definantly not... if you feel strongly about the picture, the event or the people writting on here against you... PRAY... The battle belongs to the LORD, not you.
Oh, my apologies - I thought I was on an MSNBC photoblog, not WebChurch. Bible thumpers - since you are so accepting - you are cool with me worshiping Bob Marley, right? He's my one and only God. Robert Nesta Marley - R.I.P.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I hate to say this, being Catholic and all...but I've noticed a very frightening trend in this thread. Those of us who see the photo as humorous without being religiously offended use perfect (or near perfect) grammer, spelling, and punctuation. Those that "can't bear that such a blasphemous photo be displayed" really aren't impressing me in the diction department. If you're going to spout off and complain, promising that Jesus (he of an unsunny disposition) might find us lacking spiritually and damn us straight to H-E-Double-Hockeysticks, how about learning how to spell? It kinda' nukes any credibility or any effect you're trying to instill. Just throwing that out there.
i ageree w/ Meredith
bytemi - My personal experience is that Bible bumping Catholics also tend to fit in to 2 categories: 1. Conservative 2. Poor I believe the latter answers your grammar question. **All - argue if you want, this is MY EXPERIENCE.
wow, that must have been an encounter for both of them. sorry but i dont know anything else to say about this
If this had been a contest of black slaves in chains, it would have been removed, as well as all over the news. But let someone mock Christ, and we're use to it.
jesus should beat the rabbit over the head with the cross
This is just twisted-sick,wrong and the whole idea is too stupid! NOT funny, not funny at all!
Damn christians, gotta ruin the funny picture for the rest of us. Thought you were passive people? "I like your Christ, I do not like your christians, your christians are so unlike your Christ." - Ghandi
How did this picture get people talking about Imus' stupid racist comment? This has nothing to do with Imus. I think this picture is very interesting because Jesus is the reason why we have Easter. It would have been really cute if the photographer took a picture of the Jesus impersonator and the "Easter Bunny" standing side-by-side with their arms across each other's shoulders. I just thought of a cool idea for a photo; Santa Claus kneeling in front of Jesus' crib in a nativity scene. It is sad that some people think only of the Easter Bunny and candy at Easter and Santa Claus and presents at Christmas. I do think it is odd that there is actually a "hunky Jesus" competition especially in San Francisco.
I wonder what the response would have been if it had been a "hunky Muhammad" contestant greeting a small boy strapped with explosives. Or maybe a "hunky Martin Luther King" contestant greeting the three murdered civil rights fighters from 1964. Is that funny? Oh, I've got one for you San Francisco. How about a "hunky Matthew Shepard" contestant greeting Liberace. The lack of tolerance, and understanding by "liberals", and "conservatives" is horrifying. Why do you need to offend, and hurt people? More, and more our nation falls victim to the television culture. I pray you will find a way to bring peace, love, and tolerance from this tragedy. God bless ALL of you!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. In fact, by calling this insulting aren't you infringing other people's rights to express their own opions and religous beliefs. If Christians truly believe God loves everyone and is always forgiving, then he wouldn't be angry, now would he? No. Lighten up and let people have some fun.
Wow!! We got Jesus ( a hunky one at that ) Mohammed, the Bunny, Santa, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Martin Luther King, Hitler, Phelps, not to mention Imus and of course, God. Quite a cast!! .. so who gets to play the Devil? .. chuckle.
J: your goin down you fuzzy bastard EB: Not before i nail your ass back on that cross J:bring it on, i got over 2.3 billion people on my side. EB: i have copyrights, do you have copyrights? J: i rose from the dead, im gods favorite zombie. EB: you and santa,... J: dont bring him up again.
Maybe Jesus and God are up in Heaven right now, laughing their asses off too. Like somebody else said - I find it more amusing that people are like "WAIT AND SEE, GOD SHALL SMITE YOU, I SHALL PRAY FOR YOU" when, their the ones passing judgement. seems hypocritical to me. But in all seriousness, I can see Jesus and God and all the angels getting a chuckle out of this. God has a sense of humor - we all know it. Just look at people in the world.
I agree, I am a born-again Christian who does not know what is wrong with other Christians. God made us in his image so you know he has a sense of humor (look at weiner dogs) Why do we act like God is being bullied? He is GOD! He gives you every breath you take. He does not need you to defend him in the way that we all usually do; by getting angry. Hug a Nazi! Pray for a murderer! Be friends with the Drunk and Drug addicts, Love your neighbor! ....don't judge.... I don't know if God likes this picture or not, but, I do know he is not up there going "why wont you guys stand up for me by judging so that these potential Christian despise Me and my Church". Christians! Lighten Up! We are supposed to have a better understanding of God's love, once you get there, show it to everyone! Keep in mind all things including time were created by Him, His creation is running a course designed by Him and there are no mistakes, nothing catches Him off guard, and I promise you He has never been offended by us little creatures He spoke into existence. Everyone on this page rippin Christians, I would like to go have a beer with you, party it up and have a good time. God loves you even though these so called Christians may hate you. Don't let this represent the entire Christian nation to you; some of us are actually different The strict religious leaders put Christ up on the cross (well we all did). When he was here (still is technically), he drank with tax collectors, befriended a prostitute and forgave sins...LOVE PEOPLE LOVE!
Thats just wrong... but funny XD
"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God - having a form of godliness but denying its power." 2 Timothy 3:1-5
i love the double debate: imus getting fired, picture (apparently) making fun of jesus (which i think it's ridiculous that people are throwing such a bloody fit over a "hunky jesus contest") but then again...you can always hand it up to the christians to throw a raging fit over just about everything. and the imu thing?...i don't even know how it fits into this.
