Run for your lives, its mutant pig man. He has radioactive breath.

Ok, I recovered from my initial shock and Wow! ... this is really incredible. I can only imagine what must've cause the deformity. Now I wonder if it has an additional brain, stomach or other partially formed organs or is this phenomenon restricted to its external features. Still, these things amaze me! Regards, Craig http://realitycheckbounce.blogspot.com
"I think it is terible how they are exploiting this pig..." isn't that how people on this site are supposed to react. I do have to say that the middle eye is a bit disturbing.
Twice the head cheese!
This is very sick, and shows a bit about how cruel we can be to animals
There are plenty of distrubing and cruel things in this world, however this is not one of them. By saying that this is cruel trivializes those things that truly are cruel! Think before you post.
I'm confused how a (probably) natural mutation can be taken as humans being cruel to an animal? I'm sure in looking back in history things like this in humans and animals isn't unheard of.
How is it cruel that an animal was born with a deformity and its picture was taken? Also, as it says in the caption, it is being 'sent to a safari park for professional care...' I don't see what's wrong with that. Craig - I wonder the same things about it, and I wonder if it will live a relatively normal life with all the extra bits. I think he's kind of cute :)
Hmmm...I think i will name her Hilary Obama-Edwards
The photograpgy is great. The mirrors are the only way to get the true picture. I would like to know who eats first? Lefty? or Righty? Rae
I just saw it in today's chinese newspaper. Poor piggy..
Now JoshKs.. your comment is cruel and disturbing =) I think he's cute. I just hope he is not in any kind of pain and just having a happy life with just a few extra body parts.
If you think this cruelty to animals you are clueless. If you want to know true cruelty, think about the ham sandwich you had for lunch, or the bacon for breakfast.
I think we all agree that her right side is her best side...
Usually when you see such a "deformity" in an animal, and yes even humans, it is because the egg inutero was beginning to split and under "normal" development would have been identical twin pigs. Unfortunately for this pig the division didn't happen completely before the embryo grew and matured and so you end up with identical twins sharing body parts, aka siamese twins. Craig, this pig probably only has two snouts, and tongues, possibly partially more than one brain, and as far as internal organs, had one complete set, except for the maybe the possibility of two esophagases and tracheas leading to one set of lungs and one stomach. As far as humans playing any part of cruelty in this little pig's case, there was none. Simply it is a conjoined twin that is "sharing" a body and has individual "faces."
"th-th-that's all folks!...Me too!"
I think it is kinda funny that people think it's gross that there are things like this that come up in animals/nature...but what if it were a person would those very people be saying it is gross...or would it be gross if they were in a resturant and it was on a plate in front of them, would it be gross then?I don't think you can exploit an animal....however maybe this just GOD'S way of telling us to except everyone even if they have imporfections....because he knows we are perfect, but we don't.
I think she is adorable. Whether it is a human or an animal I think that they are who they are and you can find a place in your heart that feels compassion, and empathy. I think we are all a bit handicapped whether it is external, or internal. We are all imperfect. JCP
There have been other pigs born this way in the past. They have shown up in circus side shows(freak shows) next to the bearded lady and worlds fattest man. The sad part is that the little piggie was born this way. I just hope it has a fulfilling life wherever it goes and is happy. He really does look cute :)
I think its incredible and strange at the same time. I hope it does get professional care. I don't see the cruelty only the makings of evolution. Just as humans are born with deformaties, animals can be too. He may have a special talent later on to boot! I think he's cute also.
could you call that a double snouter in pig mania
Awww he's so cute
i think is ABORABLE!!
So , what is so cruel about understanding n helping an animal when its born with a deformity? .. If their not in pain n can function in its everyday life.. what is so cruel? Just bc he/she doesnt look "normal" does not mean there in pain! For that pigs matter he/she is normal. There r plenty of animals n people born like this n survive, the only cruelty of this r the people that judge them on there looks, n assume its cruelty. the only cruelty is ending their lives without giving them a chance to prove us wrong!
I agree that this has nothing to do with being cruel. How could it be cruel when a human didn't put this upon this little pig. Let's use a brain here.
I think that we should just leave the poor animal alone. I highly doubt that any child would like to be subject of discussion like this pig is. Just because he/she is an animal, does not mean that it is okay to poke fun.
This picture literally made my lunch come up.....
It's cute ... I want one ...
No one mentioned that this pig has 3 eyes. I wonder how the Middle Eye works in relation to the other 2. Is that Middle eye really 2 eyes?
I think he's cool. I'd call him tri-clopse
It is sad to see such a deformed animal. Of course my heart goes out to this little survivor. It's nice to know that she will be properly cared for. I'll be honest she is kinda cute.
JoshKS With regards to naming the pig Hillary Obama-Edwards I think you should be ashamed of yourself!! You owe the pig an apology for this senseless defaming of it's character. LOL
BABE on steroids. I hope it's not in pain.
How cute the pig babies are~
It's amazing what biology can do.
The only "cruelty to animals" I could come up with is as follows (Picture the Weekly World News): BABY PIG BORN WITH 2 HEADS! PARENTS ARRESTED FOR DEALING CRACK!
I'm confused as to why people are calling this cruel. This pig was born with a physical deformity, what's cruel about that? It is a genetic malformation, and I doubt its radioactivity or anything that caused this, sometimes it just happens. This pig would have been identical twins, but the embryo didn't separate completely. Under the proper care, little guys like him survive, but sometimes their little bodies can't handle pumping blood to the extra parts, and that's why they usually don't survive. Its highly likely that the third eye would be non functioning, but it depends how his brain is structured... the brain is an amazing thing. And if you think this is some how cruelty to animals for singling him out and exploiting him, don't because at least this little guy is going to receive excellent care - he'll never see a slaughterhouse.
I saw human babies in bottles in a Vietnamese war museum with similar problems caused by Agent Orange.
um... it's a pig guys... you eat the normal looking ones... why not this one too? Yall are talking about this pig like it has suffered some grave misfortune because it was born a little different from the other ones. All of you that said you hope it has a normal life, I wonder... do you know what a normal life for a pig is...? Breakfast. this is one lucky piggy. and yes... very cute.
Wonder if it has anything to do with china toxic wastedumps moving into rural areas.
Yep lucky all right. as most deform piglet die at birth ar are hit on the head. I am wondering if it has site in all 3 eyes. as for other parts of the body organs I would say are normal as it would not have lived otherwise. I have seen piglets born both gendered. Afraid so it will end up on someones plate unless it end up in a freak show somewhere being pushed as the pig with 2 heads or something like that.
Poor baby
thats a cool pic .the photographer did a good job with the mirrors. u dont see a pic like this every day .it would be cool to see it fully grown
Oh yes - let's show off this poor little mutant pig who has the misfortune ( or perhaps good fortune) to be born in China, world capital of animal abuse. This little guy might get lucky, and not be crammed into a wire basket with 12 other piglets to be sent to market on the back of a bicycle. China disgusts me. Why don't you use a photo of China's dog culling (50,000 dogs bludgeoned to death in one province this year) But then again, Canada is no better ( the baby harp seal slaughter is about to begin any day now!)
I know someone will harpoon me for over-sentimentality, but Laura Gilpin has a short poem about a two-headed calf that is one of my favorites and that I share with my students. Rather than thinking that this animal is flawed in someway, why aren't we looking for positives in this situation? As she Gilpin states in her poem, he might be considered a "freak" by others, the farmers who will find him in the morning, "But tonight he is alive and in the north field with his mother. It is a perfect summer evening: the moon rising over the orchard, the wind in the grass. And as he stares into the sky, there are twice as many stars as usual." Imagine the wonder of viewing twice as many stars, of enjoying the moment twice as much. My students often remark how sad it is that the calf is a "freak of nature", but the true challenge is in getting them (and society) to see the benefits of being different. I often use this poem--and now maybe referencing this picture--to spark a discussion on why we ridicule the different, the "freak." Thanks for a thought-provoking visual to accompany a beloved poem.
The left side must be the ugly side, it cracked the mirror!
I bet that sucker is unbeatable in a hog callin' contest.
That little guy is adorable!! How can you look at him and think he is gross? Did you notice the cute look in his face (the one in the blue mirror)? For those who called the pig a mutant, get over yourselves! Stop feeling sorry for everything/one who doesn't match the norm. Genes are made to throw out mutations every now and then in case one may be of use to the species. I love bacon, but this pig is too cute to eat.
Looking at this is making me want to get get some good pork ribs with a spicy dry rub. SUUUUUUIE!
i don't think that this is cruel @ all. i think he's kinda cute. usually the one's that aren't the prettiest are the sweetest. i just hope that if they run tests on him that they won't hurt him & that he can have a semi-normal life.
I cannot BELIEVE some people. That poor big has three eyes and two snouts. Because of that, it has its picture taken. We don't take pictures of every piglet. Just the "mutant" ones. Well, I don't see us exploiting every single joint twin or three-eyed person born. If it's sent to that safari to get "professional care" and live, its just going to be exploited even more.
Is this the cloned pork you people are eating?
mmmmm.......bacon....*drool*
I dont think this is a case of cruelty, this pig was born with a genetic defect and is being recognized for that. Only the extreme get the attention, or as they say "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." you could even think of it as a good thing, if it was a slaughter farm, this deformaty may have kept it out of the grinder.
why allow the piggy to survive, it obviously shouldnt procreate... nature usually takes care of these abnormalities. and then people step in and keep it alive....sigh end the suffering
So many of you are going boo hoo over the exploitation of an unfortunate (and cute) piglet who was a conjoined twin - Face it - of course it will be exploited, even just a little for this picture - but that is because it is unique and interesting - but I bet you, once the piglet gets settled at the safari park it will probably not be heard of or mentioned again by the mass media - BUT on the other hand - if it was a human baby - his/her entire life would be documented, videoed, analyzed, and media hounded for the rest of their (sometimes unfortunatly short) lives. People are always fasinated with the weird and the unknown. It's human nature. But on the other hand - I find it encouraging that we are shown the deformaties - It instills on us the curiosity that leads us to try and help. The piglet will be able to live more than it normally would have, and the children with the same deformaties will be helped. It's actually heartening to know that no one is perfect, everyone is different, and that there are people who will try to help instead of imediatly killing anything that is different - whether it be a lowely piglet or your next child.
Some animals are for recreational, some for food. That is how we survive on this planet. You can get protein from beans and stuff, but not every one is a limabeen person. So henryWestfieldNJ you must be some kind of animals rights person or vegetarian.Speak for yourself bud I like my bacon!! Must admit though little piggy touches the heart and I hope they do take good care of...them?
I THINK THIS PIG IS A CUTIE PIE. NOT EVERYONE IS PERFECT.I'M SURE HE LOOKS AT EVERYONE ELSE AND WONDERS WHY THEY LOOK SO FUNNY.
janjones - I'm just wondering where you get the idea that China is the "world capital of animal abuse" ... I'd like to see your facts on this ... secondly, Canada's "baby harp seal slaughter" is anything but ... baby seals are NOT killed - there is a law against this and it has been banned since 1987. As for the actual seal hunt, this is a part of the Native tradition and culture and the commercial seal hunt is monitored by the government of Canada ... this is also a part of some people's income ... just because you see celebrities protesting against this and you see pictures of cute little white baby seals doesn't mean that you should be so ignorant ... maybe look into the topic a little more
I think this animal should be well fed, muscled up, and rtained to have a bad attitude. Then, we send it to Club Gitmo, and let it roam the halls!
Interesting how the photographer had 2 mirrors - one on each side of the pig. The pig looks normal to himself (or herself)in the mirror. I love the poem Rebecca shared. Even a cow (or pig) has normal feelings. You must be a fantastic teacher!
In the old days this pig may have been rejected by it's mother or the owner would have killed it as an abomination or a evil prediction. Now we take care of it and see why it got this way. I guess we have to ask "is that why we have a brain?". Will something be better for our knowledge of this? Will this animal suffer for his deformities or is happy regardless? Only the pig knows for sure.
the way the photographer set up the shot with the two mirrors is very creative. It just shows that there is beauty in all things.. you just have to look at things differently than normal. It's a very cute piglet.
I'm confused by how this malformation can be construed as cruel. "Deformities" such as this occur much more frequently than most of us realize. I don't believe this pig is deformed, just a wonderful example of how mother nature likes to keep us guessing. Being an RN and the mother of identical twins, it is easy for me explain the phenomenon of an egg that never fully split, what we have here is 2 beings with one body, not as unusual as we think.
Butcher is going to have a tough time sneaking up on this one!
How ingenious, you know the cheek meat is the best part.
I want him as a pet. He's cute.
I don't see how a birth defect is construed as cruel. If your child is born with 6 toes, is that cruel? Unfortunately humans now know these things ahead of time and often choose to kill the child before it has a chance to take it's first breath. What a terrible fate for not being "normal". Amazing how a pig is treated better than a human.
...or give him a flak jacket, and send him into terrorist training camps...
Just the opposite of Michael Jackson, who was born normal-looking, and chose to be made into a deformed freak!
Well it could have been a mutation due to his mothers living conditions or a natural defect. As a vegetarian I know the horrible conditions of factory farms which often cause birth defects in the animals born at these farms, but I don’t know if this pig came from a factory farm. I just hope that someone will take great care of this cute little pig :)
This is the unfortuant cost of not taking care of animals with appropriate living areas. I do hope this pig is not put down due to its diformaty; I myself think hes soooooo cute!!!
Just think...I could make twice as many tamales!!!
Kramer was right: there is a pigman!
Nope...just a fat little mental patient...lol "If I hear an anguished oink...I'm outta here..."
Is it a coincidence that a two-faced pig is the picture that follows a tw-faced pig?
This really makes you sit and ponder. What is in the water? The air, or the food.
This is not cruel, they are taking care of the animal even sending it to a special care facility. In the animal world this piglet would have been starved or killed because of its deformities.
Gee, maybe we should stop importing food items from CHINA!!!!!
Wonder if the bacon still tastes the same?
I wonder if I could get the owners of this critter to be a guest on my show.
awwwww..........whats wrong with him he looks fine his so cute!!!!
I thinks It's cute, and It's not crul it was born that way. =]]
So when do we get to see that three-eyed fish from The Simpsons? Response to ChairityCA: When I lay a crap on your doorstep tonight, it's going to be GOD's way of telling you (through me) to accept his imperfections. You may find my feces to be gross, BUT in God's eyes it may be holy crap. I hope you don't take it personally. ;) Remember everybody, we wouldn't be here today without mutations. Give two-headed pigs a chance to prove themselves! Side note: conjoined twin chicks can be hot. Albino conjoined twin chicks are usually hottest.
All I can think of is, poor Kermit. Miss Piggy is probably strangling him for letting something "TWICE as beeutiful as moi".. get its picture on the internet!
Poor little piggy. As long as it isn't in pain and can lead a fairly normal life in captivity, it should be well-cared for.
I wonder if it can actually see from all three eyes...Weird!!!
