Not to mention the sport of Ultimate which now has a world wide presence. I'd like to give this guy a big hug!

This photo makes me think of all the "technologically advanced" toys and games for which consumers stand in long lines and spend hundreds- thousands of dollars at Christmas, because some guy on television said "buy". Next year that same guy will be saying the same thing about a new toy or game with even cooler gadgets or graphics. It's interesting that this simple piece of plastic, which can be purchased for pennies at a dollar store, is enjoyed by people (and canines) everywhere, both young and old-- even half a century later.
The beach has never been the same. Good job Walter!
This man, My hero. Imagine inventing something that seems so simple, and then actually see how this simple invention was able to transform outings to the beach, picnic, etc. Fun- packaged in a small saucer object that floats when thrown.
I didn't read the caption before I recorded my first impression - an old man having fun with a (unseen) friend with memories of his youth evident in his eyes. A very powerful photo - particulary for one approaching their elder years. Peace, Rick
Me and my dog, Bruce, thank you so very much for the memories, kind sir!!
i too didnt read at first.to me i thought of a grandpa with his grandkids. i was drawn to his eyes. they show kindness.
I prefer the Aerobie.
You can tell this man has had the right spin on things all his life
Walter! DUUUUUCK !!!
I can imagine him, tossing the disk, watching and critiquing for loft, flight, distance...calculating how much fun can be had from THIS one! Great job!
I see that the man is thinking of his whole life before him, after him and after a good distanc eof the toss that he will still be making money from a simple item in his child hood..
Just today, I was watching a group of young military people playing what appeared to be a sort of game played like soccer or football, except they were using a frisbee. It looked like fun. The man in the picture has the look that I get after I throw one, like- Is it gonna fly right or will it be a bad throw that will just go barreling off in a random direction?
pippin, the sport you are referring to is Ultimate Frisbee, played and loved (mostly fanatically) by thousands all over the world
Spike, the Ultimate Frisbee team of University of North Texas Rocks! Kevin, David, Bobby and Fro make this little disc do things that Walter never imagined when he dreamed this up. Yeah Walter!
My favorite thing to do in college was get with a bunch of people and play Ultimate Frisbee or Frisbee Golf. Thanks Mr. Morrison!
THANK YOU WALTER
I'm amazed that I never heard of this man in all the years I've been Frisbee-ing. I loved the picture, even before you introduced us to Mr. Morrison. Thanks
As Mary said, Thank you for the Introduction!
Stupid as it sounds, I never really thought of a Frisbee actually having an inventor, sorta like a ball.
wow
Still laughing all the way to bank for a piece of round plastic that you catch and throw for fun. It's simple, sleek, and has proven the test of time through generations. Thanks Walter for this "high tech gadget" that is still enjoyed by millions worlwide.
I wonder if this guy has anything to do with the new Disc Golf sport. Its awsome. I can throw one about 350 yards, which is crazy cause I can't throw a football far at all. It's the aerodynamic design of the discs and the way a person can "whip" it that makes it possible. These discs look like a frisbee, but I wouldn't recommend trying to catch one in flight. They hit hard. I actually got a 2 inch gash on my arm when I went to catch one. I couldn't believe the power behind it. My buddy got knocked out cold by one on the disc golf course. Anyway, thanks man for at least influencing this sport I love.
Brian...you are telling us about "disc-golf" injuries...a true American gladiator.
Thanks a lot, Walter. I bet I've spent $50 a year on new Frisbees during my adult life, and I still can't throw or catch one worth a darn.
