He might give comfort to children who deal with the police. He looks cuddily to me.

Whatever he does it's cruel to subject an animal to the possibility of being incinerated simply to amuse human beings.
Again, where's PETA or the Humane Society?
What kind of a world do we live in where people feel the need to question the political correctness of a dog jumping through a flaming hoop? Get a life. I'm sure the dog is fine, he doesn't look quite BBQ'd to me.
Jeanne, you read my mind!! Where the ham-sandwich is PETA??!! If we as humans are stupid enough to jump through flaming hoops, that's our choice!! But this poor dog has been forced to be a court jester of sorts for the sake of our entertainment. I find this picture appalling!
I'm all about animal protection, but the reason this dog may be able to jump through fire is that it may have to be trained by the police to do so incase it is in a situation where there is some fire.
And why exactly a dog that small need to be jumping through fire??? To rescue a dog smaller than he?
This looks like the cover of a comic book entitled "The Adventures of Adventure Dog"
All this PETA B.S is ridiculous. My next paycheck says that this dog really doesn't view jumping through a damned hoop as a very big deal and is treated lavishly when he gets back to the police station everyday.
PETA PROBABLY DOESN'T HAVE MUCH SWAY IN PERU
Actually... Isn't think canine is a delicacy in Peru? Just kidding PETA...
NYV, that dog is an old english sheepdog and probably weighs between 70 and 100 pounds. They are intelligent and resourceful. As for why it is jumping through fire, probably as practice for rescue operations in which the dog would encounter fire.
Like stated above, maybe he helps children. Some small children are afraid of large dogs. if a child were trapped in a fire, he could help to lead them out - or at least let someone know where they are.
Even the poilice dog mascot has to carry his load. Free biscuits and water - I think not!
I dont know- I really dont think the dog minds it too much and I'm sure he gets a fat reward for his cool trick.
Never mind the fur, let's hear it for those asbestos nut packs!
I think that the fur would be a hazard. I actually know this since my cat once got his tail too close to a candle and lit it on fire... massive fireball lots of smoke and an awful smell... blech
Who said cute little doggies don't have souls and don't go to heaven? This one just went to Doggie hell! Make sure we are all headed in the right direction!
Oh come on, you can pipe down about PETA, the dog is OBVIOUSLY in no harm, and is in good living conditions. C'mon, it's a police dog, not a glass figurine. It's obviously well trained a LONG time before it's put in any flaming hoop. And who knows, maybe it's learning to be a fire rescue dog. USE YOUR HEAD BEFORE YOU THINK PLEASE! :D
CUTE doggie:)
I don't know the point to the trick really, but dogs will do anything to please their people. I hope he doesn't get hurt.
hot dog!!!!
OH MY GOODNESS! THIS DOGGY IS SOOO CUTIE...I could just eat him up! LOLz
i had to do a double take, it didnt look quite like a dog when i first looked at it. peruvian for "hot dog"????
Nice Hot Dog... It's beginning to be noticebly animals are being used on police operations(which are giving them more capabalities to help)... Oh look at the dress it was wearing, isn't it designer clothing?...
