Dog found alive 4 days after Montana avalanche

In this photo released by Natasha Baydakova on Wednesday Jan. 4, 2011 showing a Welsh corgi dog named Ole.

AP reports: Search and rescue team member Bill Whittle said he was "positive" that the Welsh corgi — named Ole — had been buried in Saturday's avalanche.

"The avalanche guys were up there on Monday investigating and they were looking for the dog too and never seen any signs," he said.

But on Wednesday, Ole showed up exhausted and hungry back at the motel, four miles from where the slide occurred, the Billings Gazette reported.

This story is no big deal. Only 4 days after such a small moment in history????

I once found a dog at least 50 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

And another time a found a dog at least 200 years after the Revolutionary war.

My dad got a Pembroke Corgi back in February thats identical to this one. He's an awesome dog. You get the work ethic, and stamina of a big dog in a compact body. FYI, Corgis are herding dogs and are short to avoid getting a hoof to the noggin.

Can keep the dog out of the wild but can't keep the wild out of the dog? no? Probably just hid in a cave or something.

As a long time (78 yr) lover of animals, this story brought a tear to my eye. What a beautiful dog? Today many people are realizing what dogs can do to improve our way of life: in combat, in the hospital, in the home etc. and, as a personal friend. After a long-time illness, my long-haired dachshund- buddy Davinci, who gave me countless hours of southing and kissing while either on my lap, in my bed or at my feet, went to doggie heaven. He never asked for but got a bowl of dog food and water each day giving nothing but love for our family and even those who came to visit us. What a lovely story!

My Dad was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2010 and was on meds. He got a Corgi in February and walks it twice a day and no longer has diabetes. Corgis are the type of dog that needs lots of activity.

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

Humans and dogs have been best friends for 10,000 years.

Tough critters that are as important to us as family.

This one is really cute too.

Hooray for Ole. Considering this is a front-page news story it says a lot of what's important. Glad the little fellow was alright.

They should rename him, Digger, or Roller, or Tumbleweed, or Lucky.

I am not too impressed by a dog that can dig through snow. He is cute though.

Check out the story today.

A Cooke City skier found Oly's tracks and followed them back. He found the hole where Oly dug himself out of the snow.

At least all the news reporting isn't bad news. There should be more positive, uplifting stories like this one.

What a tough little guy. Hopefully, he is curled up on a nice warm blanket/bed now. Glad it was a happy ending for the dog and owner.

Rescue a dog and they'll rescue you right back! Saved my redbone coonhound from lethal injection and she's given me more in return than I could have ever imagined. If only I could find a man to love me like my dog does! LOL
