Mother begs for help for her burned son

A 9-year-old boy whose face was badly burned in a fire has been begging with his mother on the streets of a Chinese city in order to raise money for medical treatment, according to AFP.

Yang Weihao was injured in a fire near his home in Anhui province in June, China Daily reports. He has undergone two skin grafts and wears a mask to prevent his wounds from becoming infected. Yang's family has already spent more than 200,000 Yuan ($31,270) on hospital bills, but they have been left badly in debt and say that they cannot afford to pay for the further treatment that he needs.

Ditto! Making us aware through a photo is good, but posting information so we can help is better.

The Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children have the best Burn units in the world, they ask for no money. Someone please send them the information to the Shiners

Our Small community has been supporting a family with a badly burned 2 year old girl who is currently getting her care in the Ohio Hospital.

God Bless this family, give strength to his parents and help the child heal and please God help the family to find a way to cover their bills

Simply google Shriners hospitals, I tried to upload the link but I guess you can't do that here. MSNBC Please get this family and the Shriners hooked up

This needs to be picked up and followed by TV media, thereby giving us a way to help.

This is the America I truly love because it is all about doing the right thing and standing up to be counted. I have read all of he posting and it is all about what can be done for this boy who was disfigured by a fire. I want to donate as well and would like more information from the author and MSN as do all the other readers posting remarks. Please provide some direction in this area so that we may help this boy get his life back and to help his family that is struggling financially. Also, thanks to all of you who have posted remarks for lifting my spirits. I say this because with 9/11 coming up on 10 years, there has been so much to read on line that is just plain sad, but in the same spirit that held us us during that difficult time so many want to do the right thing for this boy and that has been uplifting for me. God bless you all.

I'm sorry but how is this uplifting? this is a perfect example of the media exploiting a tragedy with no responsibility or actions taken. clearly there are good people in the world who would love to donate, myself included. but then HOW or WHY wasn't their information taken when someone was so "brave" to take photos of them from a distance? or how has not ANYONE responded on how to help this family. it saddens me and i hope we do hear from someone about how to ACTUALLY help them instead of just take pictures of them.

There has been so much hate on this site by the 9/11 conspiracy theories, maybe these people could do something to redeem themselves by helping this young boy and his family, I don't care if they are in China, the government there and obviously the people (China has wealthy business men and women) are not helping them. Give us the link to help them...MSNBC. You put this out, now follow through, even if you started an office pool it would help, you have to have something more than the pictures, isn't that what reporters do?

It is tragic for a child to endure such pain. God bless him and his mother.

MSNBC, please recognize and respond to the requests of your site visitors that we be given an official channel to donate to this family, and please consider this request for similar stories in the future..

This family half a world away needs help, and there are Americans who want to help. Yes, we're in a recession and money is tight, but we can still help - even small donations accumulate to make a big difference.
