I can't wait to see the National September 11 Memorial Museum when it opens.
As NBCNewYork.com reported:
A fire truck used during the World Trade Center evacuation on 9/11 returned to ground zero on Wednesday where it was lowered into exhibition space for the National September 11 Memorial Museum.
The truck is from the fire department's Ladder Company 3, which carried 11 firefighters from the firehouse in the East Village to the burning trade center site on the morning of the attacks. All 11 members died.
The front of the truck was sliced off when the towers collapsed. A door and a bumper from the truck are now displayed at the firehouse as a tribute to those who died.
The truck has been stored and maintained at an airport hangar for several years and was escorted to ground zero on Wednesday by the current Ladder 3 truck.

How fitting to have the firetruck which helped people escape the awful destruction put upon them by the terrorists of this world.......................elitism happens..
That makes NO SENSE.
None whatsoever.
Great addition to the exhibit. The only problem is that the exhibit may cost $20 or more for a person to see it. All because other New York Exhibit cost that much. I would love for me and my family to see it without having to get a payday loan for it.........i.e. Oklahoma City bombing memorial.
Does anyone here know whether the Islamic mosque is being built virtually on the site demolished, and staring at the memorial of 9/11? Quite a reminder, it seems to me.
Whether it is a respectiful gesture, I question. It seems that many have inferred it is comparable to a middle finger and a sneer.
At the same time, there seems to be an unusual silence regarding the mosque's... progress? I wish the Firetruck was ensconsed on their front yard if the mosque is actually under construction.
The Mosque is not being built on the site. One will not be seen by the other.
God bless NYFD
ANd all the rest of them, it wasn't just the NYFD, it was also dozens of other groups and individuals.
Agreed. It seems only the fire fighters are given thanks. Maybe it's shows like Rescue Me that cause that. There were many members of the police force on site then too. Many other people too that helped with rescues whether it was in the buildings or providing food, shelter etc. It was a time when Americans really joined together!
This article is about Ladder 3 being lowered into place. If it was about everyone involved in the 911 tragedy then i would expect reference to all involved that day. Show a little respect before you jump to single out firefighters. Everyone knows that multiple agencies and civilians were involved in the Rescue. Respectfully Submitted, STLFD.
Yes Scott, the article is about Ladder 3. When do we hear about any of the other groups that were involved with the rescue? Of course, as you are signing as a fire fighter, you are on the side of fire fighters only. I'm just an attorney and I'm sure my colleagues had nothing to do with any rescues.
Never Forget the 343 or Ladder 3 led by the brave Capt Paddy Brown. That is what this article is about, when they do a piece on the police vehicles next, I will pay my respects to them too. GCFD
A beautiful tribute, for such a tragic day. It brings tears to my eyes. May they all rest in peace. And may their loved ones be comforted, by the gesture. We will all remember September 11, 2001. In our hearts, in our minds and in our spirit.
I would love to see a replica in front of the fire station.......
God's comfort be with those families whose loved ones have losed their lives there.
Terrorists may take our bodies but they can never take our spirit.
I know people like or need to memorialize this kind of thing but I'm just not into it. I don't need to see the sunken ships at Pearl Harbor and I don't want to go through any 9/11 "museum". whatever makes people happy
I understand, Philip, but this is necessary. At some point in the future someone is going to try to say this didn't happen. That's why we have the holocaust museum, and all the other memorials. Never, ever forget. Not now, not in the future.
Bread & circuses to keep the sheeple happy and compliant
did you ever think , it is our way of saying we support our police , our security forces, our firefighters, our armed forces, etc. not only do we support those individuals, we also appreciate all of their heroic efforts. i believe to memorialize, is our way of saying thank you to individuals and their families. most likely, heroes we have never met.
To the brave firemen at 911 and around the world:
THE MARTYRED FIREMAN
By Frank J. Ottarson
Fold gently o'er his silent breast The honored badge he wore in death, And reverent lay to peaceful rest — With tearful eyes and bated breath -- The hero who nor shrunk nor quailed When bravest hearts from terror failed, When "Backward!" from the tottering wall — "Back for your lives !" was cried by all. But he nor feared, nor saw, nor heard, He would not hear the backward word; The path of duty lay before; The fireman's badge he proudly wore Would blush for shame if one should say He shrank from danger. "Clear the way!" Up to the front the hero came To battle face to face with flame. One thought he gave to hearts at home, And eyes that laughed to see him come; But "Duty, duty !" was the cry -- 'Twas duty now to do or die, He dashed the unbidden tear away, And foremost led the dangerous fray; The high wall tottered all aflame: Then, like an avalanche, it came Down thundering to the quaking ground, And built the martyr's funeral mound A shriek of horror! Like a flash To work his brave companions dash; With blistering hands they tear the pile —
Their hushed hearts beating low the while — And soon with streaming eyes they bear The martyr to the cool night air Too late! The fatal work is done
His crown of fame is dearly won; Crushed by the cruel wall he lies, Stern duty's latest sacrifice.
The victim of the battle's strife Lives in our hearts a second life; But who the unarmed hero knows, Who, like this fireman, graveward goes Contented, in a peaceful sphere — To live without reproach or fear, To do all that becomes a man, And fill the grand though humble plan By Heaven ordained? Shalt we forget The hero whose bruised body yet Seems quick with life? Let banners wave O'er martyrs in a warrior's grave; Here needs no muffled drum nor crepe; Our very hearts to-day we drape With sorrow, and sit down to mourn The hero who will ne'er return. Lay him to rest; his work is o'er; Nor sins nor sorrows vex him more; He filled the Maker's grandest plan, And when be died he died for man,

Ring the bell three times, call them home... God bless them all.
ooo thank you... phoghorn... that is simply awesome. I have copied it to a doc and sending to my own family and friends.
I pity the folks who cannot understand why we wish to honor courage, integrity, sacrifice... and to know those ideals are still in the hearts and souls of decent human beings.
Two-dimensional lives must be hellishly dreary.
Eagles should have kept him.
God Bless ALL Americans, and God Bless America!
Baal worshipping fascist!
I am happy they are just moving forward in that area. It seems that it's taking so long to get that place back into shape. I cannot wait until that area is breathing again. It was and always be a fantastic place to go to. NYC as well as the rest of NY(Yeah, that's really how it is) Just rock! The NYPD, the FDNY and all the people that are from that great state are the best. NY roots run deep. Lots of love from an East coast brother'n livin on the west coast now...
If you ever go there, buy FDNY shirts from the fire stations. Don;t buy them from the hacks on the street. If you buy at the fire station or store associated with the station at least the money will go to the station or the victims families..
PEace out brah's!
and the terrorist want to build a temple on the very grounds that they destroyed.
It's just a photo of a bag with logos! That bag could contain anything and the Libs want us to think they're saving this country by lowering a bag into the site. Great, cool flags, I guess that makes it believable. Maybe it's really just a bag of old Edsel parts, we dont know. SHOW US THE TRUCK! Show us what you want to memorialize. The picture would have more impact if we really saw the truck. What have you got to hide?
when a crane moves a large heavy item on a construction sight LIKE A SCULPTURE OR WORK OF ART they usually cover the item so it doesn't get damaged..
Maybe to please you they should just drag the thing on the ground..
The men left the safety of that truck and headed into that bulding. truck is a memory of them and the Good American values they represented..
Yaah we can see someone is just posting on here who is not really an American.
If you are not moved by those pictures YOU ARE NOT AN AMERICAN AND YOU DON'T HAVE AMERICAN VALUES...Its more fun to diss us Americans huh buddy..
Just remember WE WILL NEVER FORGET..
God Bless America and God Bless those fire fighters....
The mantra of murderers and imperialists. Gawd is not going to bless this hell-hole and the sooner you wake up and smell the coffee the better off you'll be.
Thinking that 'god' blesses warmongering & revenge is about as delusional as it comes.
The fire engine will be taken out of the bag in the exhibit. That was just a cover to preserve it a bit longer.
Muslims are not the terrorists, people that decided to kill in the name of Allah are the ones to point the finger at. It is just so human for most of us to blame a religion than to look at a group of individuals that decided to use hatred and vengeance for their self esteem. Jesus Christ set a better example than we could ever display. Love and forgiveness is what Jesus Christ's example on earth was all about, not hatred and vengeance. Only the devil wins when we choose him over God. Read the Bible, Torah and Koran, you will be surprised to find no room for hatred and vengeance. Only the devil loves people that hate and seek revenge. Remember when you are reading anyone of the three books, that taking quotes out of their context can be a very broad generalization of what the intended meaning is.....Love, Peace and consequences for bad behavior.
Notice that the New York Mosque has not been mentioned since the mid term elections? Think there's a connection?
Yep, as usual douschebag politicos exploiting hate, hype and hyperbole for the sake of campaign P.R. Talk about making mountains out of mole hills. We sould end once & for all the farce of 'elections' so we can rid ourselves of anymore Demofascist & Republicommie sponsored Kristallnachts
Get over it people. How many millions has the US Empire killed since 9-11? How many millions more are destitute refugees or live in constant fear of an errant drone attack piloted by some geeky near-sighted Wonder Bread type hiding in an air-conditioned bunker below ground?
Just how much retribution is 'enough'. If the Evil Empire would stop being a bully then perhaps people would stop hating us long enough to not want to hijack planes and crash them.
Get Over It.
Love is the answer. No matter what our individual thoughts are, we must embrace each other. Black, White, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist. Whether you believe it or not, we are all brothers. Stop the Hate.
