Ebenezer Baptist Church’s first pastor was born into slavery. The church was founded in Atlanta, Ga. in 1886 shortly after the Reconstruction Era in the South. The church moved to several locations over the years, but the current sanctuary was completed in 1922.
Ebenezer has had pastors who not only preach the Gospel, but take their ministries into the world and speak on behalf of the oppressed, disenfranchised and underprivileged. It was here, from the pulpit of the Heritage Sanctuary, that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. preached his ministry of nonviolence.

@ america first-489930 ................. While you may not realize it but the man that preached from this church to the world preached for all oppressed people. Unbeknown to most at the time, he preached for and contributed to the passing of The Civil Rights Act that will probably come to benefit the very people that were the oppressors in the 50's and 60's. We have come a long way in the last 60 years. We've come so far that it appears Whites in this country either will become or are rapidly becoming the Minority in this nation. While it is hoped that no effort would be made to oppress Whites as Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and other races have been, the very laws he, "We", fought and died for would be the same laws to insure no race is ever again discriminated against. You see, his fight was not to stop discrimination against Blacks but against any race of people so try to learn from the lessons of history. I did. At 63 years of age, I lived and learned those lessons and I pray my daughter learned them from me and her mother.

Established in 1886 during Reconstruction? The writers should open a history book--Georgia was readmitted in 1870. But, what the heck, who cares about facts?
What about Sharpton's and Jackson's churches? Oops, I forgot, they have none. Kinda like me. I am an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church---more than either of the aforementioned hucksters are.

Cause what a better country it would have been and that was without an official but concealed declaration of war against every United States citizen that can enlisted anyone to help the President destroy any citizen he deems a potential threat to anything by using no cause law from the bottom and war time fantasy intelligence from the top to help ensure outcome in the from of US citizens destroying themselves without ever knowing it was the result of the government (usually).
Muller - if your grand effort to force a profile through to "ensure" your ass stays off death row, under the pretence that a negative outcome is the best way to force everyone to stay "maintained" in some artificial and perverted level of deniability. Where you are exponentially enlisting and destroying more citizen's rights moving forward, so they can unknowigly help tip one @!$%#in person being pounded by your global pile of @!$%# toward documentation of that artificial profile, so the previous batches of citizens do not feel manipulated as you continue to psychologically flatten and monitor them -brought your official fantasy closer to Penetta's reality- then it is also not my @!$%#in job to care if Chuckes would choose not to come home for dinner or that you would not have the perception you need to overpower any environment so things go cleaner next time around -because if the very worst ever happened it would be exclusivly because of your efforts to force an artificial profile.
Traitor, coward, war criminal, you truly made this one of the most disgusting governments on the face of the planet and a down right frightening place for your enlisted citizens to live.

Go ahead... pat yourself on the back. It's truly inspiring to see your negative comments whenever there's something positive to reflect on the black experience in America. Don't worry, we expected as much from you. We'll continue to revere our heroes as you continue to deny the fact that MLK wouldn't have been murdered or had a mission if it wasn't for people like you.
Go ahead, you deserve a bow... cause after all... this story was really written for you to criticize and defame. It's all about you right? Walk proud knowing that you'd never be a half of a percent the person MLK was. He stood before his enemy and sacrificed his life for all humanity... you on the other hand... hid behind a computer an utter loser who failed to mock his legacy that will endure forever.

Having been in the church I can tell you it is simply an awesome place.
MLK spoke for all people. Of course he led blacks to be able to participate fully in society, but MLK
was about more than that. His message has indeed been hijacked by the race vultures. But those of us who
know what the message was, will never fall for that. His nieve Alveda is one fine human being. She is
pure representation of what MLK stood for.
