I think I spotted a body in the first panorama. Under the right side of the 7 Eleven sign there is orange steel beam at a 45 degree angle follow that beam up to the center of the image. Do I see a head there?

I see what you're talking about. At a distance it could pass for two eyes and a mouth, but at second look with a closeup, it's three openings at the ends of some tube-like structures.

it's a bit eerie, it kind of looks like an apparition. If you close-up on it -it looks like a face but it's blurred..

Isn't that the same ship that was on its side in earlier pictures?

is that a grounded whaling ship in that first photo ,the world certainly hopes so , so that ship will now be used to save one of the worlds most endangered species, not kill it... ,come on !,there is enough food to be grown and grazed on soil without having to eat whale meat or dolphin meat for that matter.its about time the world looked differently and closely at what they are consuming ,stop spending so much money on cell phones, computers, games and technology, and spend something on importing some quality meat products like lamb, pork, beef ,.slowly teach the people that the ocean will be depleted in generations to come if this rate of seafood consumption continues ,just get it through some thick skulls!!!!!i have always had a deep respect for the japanese people , the history and culture has always amazed me and still does,i have made many friends from japan who totaly agree with me on this matter? .,stop mass dolphin and whale killing forever ,its not a need ,its just a needless want...

Very eerie. That is definitely a face, but resolution is too low to make out if it's actually a person, or an inanimate object (mask, carving, etc)

Hey I too see what looks like a face under the seven eleven sign but check out the girl in blue with face mask, if you keep level with her left hand pan to the right where the junk pile starts it looks like another face and a second right above.

Recently, scientists have realised that the next Mega Tsunami
is likely to begin on one of the Canary Islands, off the coast of North Africa,
where a wall of water will one day race across the entire Atlantic Ocean at the
speed of a jet airliner to devastate the east coast of the United States, the
                              Caribbean and Brazil.

This is Robert Hood with msnbc.com. I've looked closely at the image, and I don't think it is a human head. I understand why we perceive those shapes and patters as a face. That has a lot to do with how we are hardwired to recognize the human face. For example, we see faces in smoke. Some people recognize patterns in toast that look like a human face.

However, we take your concerns seriously. I have written to the producers in Japan. I’ve asked them to look closely at the high resolution files. I’ll report back here when I hear from them.

Good point Robert, likely just a coincidental orientation of debris. Maybe it's just a broken off piece from the wood above it.

It it not likely a human face. Relative to the size of the building and 7-11 sign, it is way too small. The building and the debris would have to be 50 feet high for that to be proportional. Swing around to the left and look at the size of the woman walking toward the 7-11 and you'll see what I mean.

what really needs to be taken into concideration is when this picture was taken...was the photo taken before

any rescue relief?..if so, to dismiss it as only debris would not not be a fair assesment.

we look at these pictures in awe, but we don't think to much about the clean up. this has to be picked Thur a little at a time, a lot of people still missing. how do you remove a 50000 ton ship from your back yard? I would not think Japan has many 1000 ton mobile cranes. this is a sincere tragedy we can not comprehend.

THAT IS A FACE!!!!!!!!!! The resolution is to low to figure out if it is human, or a sculpture/mask. I brought the picture into a few different graphic programs to try and get a closer look...but the pixels are to large to be sure; absolutely horrific. God please be with Japan!!!!

I heard back from the producer in Japan. He says, “I have confirmed with the phorographer that the image in the photo is not a human head. The following are the reasons:

                                                    1) The “eye” portion is out of proportion with the rest of the head, and is not in line with a mongoloid anatomy

                                                    2) Compared to the Seven-Eleven signage, the head is too small

                                                    3) The photo was taken 6 days after the tsunami and the area has been clear by the authorities.

From the broken orange clay, follow the direction of the spill, up the beach, over the road, and there is a fabulously tanned person with a black hat, glasses, shirt, and white sleeves.
