How beautiful that a young child shows the innocence compared to what we now called adulthood with all the loads of self loafing that we have put upon ourselves to blind us with hate, uncaring, and false ideals. It is so hard to understand what has caused us to be so afraid of trusting love of our fellow travelers through this short time we have that we call life.

    Score one for the kids.

What a darling picture of a sweet, innocent little boy - what a thrill. Hopefully in the future the Pope and Catholic church will protect their alter boys and other children from the harm we have heard so much about in the last few years.

I wish MG from IL would have ended his/her comment at "thrill"....yes, we all know what MG is referencing, however, it wasn't necessary to taint this wonderful image.

What an assinine thing to say MG. Take whatever opportunity you can to get an irrelevant dig in. Did you know that not all priests are pedophiles and not all pedophiles are priests? Get a life and appreciate that this child had an opportunity to do what millions of other faithful people around the world would love to do... have a cherished moment with the leader of his faith.

What if the boy was loaded with weapons, a bomb or something?

Yngvar - then the pope might be dead - big deal. We all die. Stop living in fear.

Wow. Maybe try not being so brash. Of course we all die. I'm sure everyone is aware of that at some point in their life. I think what Yngvar was getting at is that it would be completely terrible and horrific and that it could happen. Children have been tasked with worse things and they are able to do them because of attitudes like yours. It was adorable and it was innocent but what if it wasn't? If I'm not mistaken, that's all that was meant by that small comment.

What a beautiful moment in the midst of turbulent events in this chaotic world. Both the spontaneous action of this little boy and the warm welcoming response of our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI remind us of the humanity universally shared by all good people.

way to go it takes a small child to show the adults how to live and respect others.

                        Breach of security.

Someone is feeling job insecurity. Check out the look from the pope's chief of staff.

I live in the Chicago area and last night as the blizzard was blowing I thought back to all the times as a child I felt the excitement of a huge snowfall. It was something magical and it meant a day off school, time to play, build snowmen and forts and drink hot chocolate. I was feeling a bit sad as I thought about how many times as an adult I let the "practical" overpower the "magical"

Then I saw this photo and I experienced the same feeling I had on those snowy mornings when I excitedly ran out to play. A photo of a child who knows what it is to embrace something magical. We may not all have a chance to greet the Pope, but I wonder how much magic we lose each and every day because we've become too blind to see and to fearful to act on it. I couldn't help but think of Jesus' telling the disciples to "let the little children come" to Him. What a gift it would be if I always ran to my Father with such abandon and such confidence of His acceptance. No wonder that we are to become like little children to enter the kingdom ...

There are Muslims everywhere so this child could easily have been a human bomb. Never forget that Islam is the religion of peace. They have no problem putting bombs on women and children and the mentaly disabled.

Luke 18:16 But Jesus called them [unto him], and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

What an awesome opportunity for a child to walk freely to the pope.

Popes are suppose to be cool. This one is too. The Cardinal sitting next to the Pope didn't look to happy. But kept his cool. Hee hee.

The Pope and his secretary spoke lovingly to the child after he went up to the Holy Father.

The child went back to the audience of his own accord. This is obviously a picture of

the child's father carrying him after the fact. Children and pets know the good guys

when they are in their presence. It was a nice moment.

Per comment about children as weapons: No, in this day and age, he is not joking. Terrorist organizations are using kids as suicide bombers, promising money for poor families and eternal life to the bombers, then putting bombs on the kids, that can be exploded remotely. Ever hear the stories from vietnam veterans who let kids come running up to them on patrol, then the kid was holding a gernade, or small knife, or something else and killed the soldier? So the rest of the patrol automatically gun down the other kids, wondering if they were going to do the same to them. Suddenly, the "americans are killing innocent children" and the pr campaign for the enemy won again ... if the bomb failed. Yes, it is a touching moment that ended well, this time. When the head person next time dies in a preventable suicide accident, no one feels that special feel-good pull anymore.
