Cornelius Dupree Jr., raises his hands in celebration with his lawyer Nina Morrison, left, and attorney Barry Scheck, right, in Dallas on Tuesday, Jan. 4. Dupree served 30 years for rape and robbery before being exonerated by DNA evidence.

Texan declared innocent after 30 years in prison

The AP reports: A Texas man declared innocent Tuesday after 30 years in prison could have cut short his prison stint twice and made parole — if only he would admit he was a sex offender.

But Cornelius Dupree Jr. refused to do so, doggedly maintaining his innocence in a 1979 rape and robbery, in the process serving more time for a crime he didn't commit than any other Texas inmate exonerated by DNA evidence.

Terrific Photo!

This has got to feel good. And the shot shows it. The way the subject is in perfect focus and the secondary players are out of focus makes this frame for me.

Ribbit!

Barry Scheck has saved a lot of lives! Congratulations.

Now the prosecution should be investigated. Crimes are committed everyday by over zealous, vote pandering, lawyers. They should be going to jail for their crimes.

How can Mr. Dupree be smiling? He must be a better man than I am.

If I were him, I think the 30 years behind bars for something I did not do would leave me a bitter man.

I am happy for him and hope he can find it in it his heart to forgive those that caused his pain.

    God bless you, Mr. Dupree.
